Install Windows 8.1 in Surface Pro 4?

I really like the placeholder feature in Onedrive Windows 8.1, Start Screen, Touch-friendly Modern IE and ability to use Oblytile. I want to install Windows 8.1 in my Surface Pro 4. I pre-ordered it already. Btw I live in Germany. Will the Facial unlock still work? Will the battery life change? I am just wondering. Maybe I will dual-boot the system just in case Windows 10 meets my need.

Facial unlock won't work it's powered by windows hello which is windows 10 exclusive. Battery life might be better on 8.1 cause 8.1 is a lighter os, but the surface is optimized for 10 so idk...

I wish I could install Windows 8.1. It's much less buggy and I never worry about my Surface boiling in my bag, still running, and then pulling it out to a dead battery.

Don't get me wrong. I like Windows 10. But it's so buggy. And why didn't the Windows 10 team talk to the Windows 8.1 team? There were some fantastic features that never carried over, especially some of the features of Modern IE such as swiping to go back and forth.

I tried to install windows8.1 on surface pro4. But unfortunately, some drivers are not compatible. Power button, volumn buttons and pen don't work at all.

I made a claim to agent of microsoft store two weeks ago. They said they will find out a solution. But nothing happen till now. So if you also want to use windows 8.1 on pro4, please also talk to them. Let them know our requirement!
