Installing Apps - Something Unexpected Happened

I am having on going issues installing apps from the Store on my Lumia 930. I get the error:

Something Unexpected Happened
Reporting this problem will help us understand it better. You can wait for a while and try again or restart your device. That may help.

I was however able to install something that I already owned.

Any ideas?

I've been having exactly the same problem on my Lumia 535 for weeks. Installed apps update ok, no problems there.
I've tried everything I found online which really only seems to address stalled downloads and updates. I've also tried a hard reset and starting from scratch but the problem persists
 
Sign out your account from store, then soft reset your phone by holding volume down and power button until phone vibrates then sign in back

I have done this and still doesn't work. Apologies for the delay in responding to comments. I'm not receiving any notifications.
 
A hard reset didn't work for me, I tried it twice. Nothing has worked and I have tried everything. I can't understand it, I can update installed apps and I can install apps I already own which are all free apps, but I can't download and install any new apps, the result is always the same....

Well, "reporting the problem" hasn't helped and neither has "waiting and trying again"

Change your Microsoft account in store

I've been aware of it for between two and three weeks, only became aware anything was wrong when I tried to download a new app, I tried downloading several others to check it wasn't just the one I wanted that caused the problem, but I couldn't download any.

Have you update your phone to latest cumulative update

Yes, as I stated in an earlier post, the phone is fully up to date and all installed apps are fully up to date.
 
I popped into my phone store and asked about the error...

Microsoft turned the app store off in December so no more apps.

Such a shame. My Lumia was 3-4 years old and worked really well. I've now bought a Samsung to replace it.
 
I'm also experiencing the same issues with my Lumia 950XL. Can't install new apps, only re-install apps I once had. Updating apps also works fine..

- Soft reset didn't work.
- Hard reset didn't work. (first I removed the phone from https://account.microsoft.com/devices and https://account.microsoft.com/devices/content)
- I double checked date/time settings of phone
- Synchronization of Microsoft account @ account settings doesn't show any issues
- Store app >> Downloads and updates doesn't show issues like something hanging in queue et cetera.

Then I removed the phone again from https://account.microsoft.com/devices/content and https://account.microsoft.com/devices/ and used the Windows Device Recovery Tool. This made the software from the phone go back to 10.0.10586.318 (1511) >> installation of new apps did work again !!
Then I checked for phone updates and 10.0.14393.1066 (1607) was installed >> installation of new apps didn't work anymore...
Then another update came (currently 10.0.15063.297 (1703)) and installation of new apps still don't work...

I don't know what to try anymore.
