One small correction. You don't have to have gold to watch Netflix. I've been watching it without live gold for about 4 months now.
So it's true then that Internet Explorer on Xbox One is crippled? But you claim it's the websites' fault, not Microsoft's? Those are all shows that have free streaming of their episodes online on PCs, so I don't get why they'd block them on one niche platform, especially because if you have a Smart TV you can go to those same websites with it's ****ty built-in browser and watch those shows. So what's the deal here?
Those were sites I just used to test it out. My wife watches obscure foreign shows that have no presence in the U.S. so they will never be on any Xbox app. As for the Hulu app, if you get the app can you watch some shows without a subscription? Or is the app totally worthless without one?
So get this, I can play YouTube on IE with Xbox 360, it doesn't say I need adobe. I stream any other videos, I need adobe. I think YouTube maybe HTML 5 now, anyways, mobile version of streaming site, need adobe. After much hesitant googling, you are best off using Windows Media Centre or pre-downloading a pirated copy (I don't condone this when Xbox have such brilliant paid TV services! -,-) and of course, the Latter of replacing your gaming console with a proper PC/TV setup (The way IBM foretold the not so distant future when they described having personal computers the size of whole rooms) but I digress with the current topic. Short answer no with a but, long answer yes with an if.
Unlike most of these single minded abusive/slandering/knowitallpcjunkies commenting on the subject. There is always a solution with computers and to those reading this, the Xbox 360/one is pretty much a computer and you couldn't convince me otherwise. The same with a smart phone or proprietary smart phone, if it has a processor, memory and acts like a computer, then news flash! It's a computer! It can be hacked like a computer, modified like a computer and used like a computer. So now comes the questions as to how adobe would work with an Xbox 360/Xbox One. Build it yourself! Obviously there is no relatable material on the subject so I'm sure if you have a knowledge of coding or someone you can hire, you can manipulate the I.E. all to run a homebrew plugin. If I can recover a deleted profile that was offline that I accidentally REFORMATTED using the Xbox, a USB and basic windows explorer to bring it back to life, you can surely get behind closed gates. I hope I helped and maybe I can help you code if you need, peace.
I don't understand why anyone would buy a Games Console and expect it to function exactly like their PC.
OK then, how do I get to the Windows 10 desktop on my Xbox One, how do I get a Keyboard and Mouse working on my Xbox One and how do I get the desktop version of Office to work on my Xbox One. That's right you can't as it isn't a computer, it's marketed and sold as what is it, a games console.
Going on your analogy even a dumb phone is a computer as it has a processor, memory and acts like a computer, so is a PSP, PSP Go, PSVita, Nintendo DS, Nintendo Wii and PS4!!!!
Gee all this time I've been told (by Windows central drones) that Xbox One is yet another brilliant Windows 10 device that will run these glorious 'Universal' apps across all my screens. Suddenly now its just "a games console."
So I booted up Internet Explorer on my fancy new Xbox One and tried to watch some TV shows online only to discover that the Xbox One wouldn't play them. Most of the sites didn't give an error message, but a few said that "Internet Explorer in Xbox 360 cannot install Flash" or something like that (yes, it said 360 even though it's One). I tried going to the following sites to watch full episodes of some shows:
1. Conan O'Brien Presents: Team Coco @ TeamCoco.com (Conan)
2. South Park Studios | Kenny, Cartman, Stan & Kyle | Watch Full Episodes, Clips & More (South Park)
3. CBS TV Network Primetime, Daytime, Late Night and Classic Television Shows (How I Met Your Mother)
4. The Daily Show with Jon Stewart - Political Comedy - Fake News | Comedy Central (The Daily Show)
5. Colbert Nation | The Colbert Report | Comedy Central (The Colbert Report)
None of them worked. Forgive me if this is common knowledge, but I never owned an Xbox 360. Can Internet Explorer on Xbox seriously not stream videos? Even Internet Explorer on my Surface RT can do that. My wife is not going to be happy. I told her she'd really enjoy Xbox One because it would enable her to stream all of her favorite shows on the big TV. I guess it's my fault for assuming that Internet Explorer on Xbox One wouldn't be stripped down, but also, WTF Microsoft? What is the point of Internet Explorer on Xbox if not to watch videos? People are going to surf the Web and check their email on a 50" HDTV? What kind of ONE box for everything is this?
Please tell me I am missing something and this functionality is there. Please.

It's not a PC, simple as that. You don't get Flash on iOS or Windows Phone (Android does it at times), and you don't get it on PS3, PS4, or Xbox 360. It's not something that the consoles do. That's why you see PornHub (yeah, really) saying that they are working on an HTML5 version of their site to work with the PS4 and Xbox One (it apparently already works with the Wii U).
