IOS 8 has been released today with bunch of new features..Is it likely to suppress WP8.1 more, will the gap be widened?what's your thought?

I think I am not worried about Apple. They can't build a phone or OS that I would use.

I would like the option of answering messages without having to opening the app itself, or from the lock screen.

Hope that WP adds that in the future.

I am very impressed with ios8. iOS is the only major mobile operating system I have not used and I am very interested in seeing what it has to offer now

Looks a real mess now. The big draw of iOS for friends and colleagues was how simple and intuitive the interface was. Certainly doesn't look to be the case now. It started going down hill with iOS 7. I would imagine most iPhone users don't have a Mac so the 'integration' features won't be of any use to them.

Not really, both operating systems are aimed at different people and have different design philosophies, people who want to use iOS 8 will use it and those who want to use WP8.1 will use that instead.

I prefer WP8.1 to iOS 8 as I think the static grid of icons is stale and boring, the white colour scheme is an eyestrain magnet if I ever saw one and the new features in iOS 8 are really a "me too" thing.

The actionable notifications and support for third party keyboards I am a little jealous about, inter-OS actions (i.e. taking a call from your phone on your Mac) I look forward to seeing when Windows 9 comes around. I do have to say, that notification centre will get busy with widgets in it :P

Overall it's a nice progression (it'll make my brother and father go out and buy another iPhone this year from the dreaded iLag) but now that WP isn't far behind and with a WP9 release next year it's not looking too bad

I really don't see why you would want to answer a call from your mac. Wouldn't it look ******** if you were talking to a 17'' + monitor instead of holding a phone to your ear?

I'd like to be able to do so from the T100 I'm going to get.

Some people (like me) keep their phones a room or two away from them, due to a myriad reasons, and why would you break your workflow just to answer a phone call? Or a text, for that matter.

I was rather surprised by the added complexity. Not compelling enough to cause me to want to switch. Plus, Microsoft had been on a roll lately.

The inter-OS actions are probably a ploy by Apple to get people to buy Macs/Macbooks.

Of course, that should be taken with a lot of salt.

Most of the features are available on Windows Phone or other OS. We can clearly see how they have panicked when other OS including WP are catching up in terms of features. Example of the panic is icloud drive.....copied naming.

Also the fact that they are starting to push Mac is an indication of the fact that Windows 8 will be a big threat to OSX, once all the polished features are released.

You will very quickly be unimpressed coming from Windows Phone because of the lack of live tiles and freeness of the OS... trust me

I looked through all the new features of iOS8 and thought "wait.. they didn't already have that?"

I'm not even close to being worried about Apple. I've never cared for their iOS products. Just recently left the comfort of Android for the freshness of WP8. Still miles better than iOS.

So, ya, not worried at all. Love my WP8 device. Can't wait for Sprint and HTC to release the 8.1 update.

I think this update will affect android high end phones nd wp high end.

.

Windows has about 85% of the market, and you're talking about it being a threat to OSX?
