iOS can update through iTunes, WP8 can't update through Zune

Zune was dead with the arrival of windows phone 8. It makes no sense to update your phone via Zune . iTunes sux big time. OTA updates are the best way to update your phone.

As already said there is no need fore Zune.
If you want to flash your phone via a pc use NSU instead if it's a Nokia.

It's rather sad that MS killed Zune. The only choice for automatic music sync is iTunes? I used iTunes before moving to Spotify, but come on, it's supposed to be your competitor!

Zune is not dead and was not killed. Yes, Zune does not currently have it's own Zune development team, but Zune is a great PC desktop player that still functions as such. It has amazing features for managing and playing music, video, pictures, and podcasts. It still functions with Windows Phone 7. It is connected to the XBox Music and Video Services so anything you have there, is available on the Zune PC desktop player. For example, I purchased a movie on my Xbox360 and it is available on my Zune player for viewing. It works. It is Windows Phone 8, that doesn't work with Zune and I wish that situation would be fixed. It would be especially great to manage our "purchased/owned" media between the PC and WP8. Also, it would be great to have the USB and WiFi sync work with WP8 on Zune.
Truth is in the details.
Best Wishes.

And there was a trick you can do via command line, that would make Windows Phone 7 "THINK" it was taking a update, then it would do a full backup of your phone. This is not the basic backup that it does on Windows Phone 8 does (app list, email settings, etc), this was a FULL backup, all apps, all settings, all tiles layouts, EXACTLY the way it was with all passwords in place.

I would love for MS to bring back Zune or a Xbox Music labeled app (renamed Zune) for syncing with. Zune was awsome with WIndows Phone 7 and you could buy apps right in Zune with all the cool features that Zune had for music, pictures, etc...

The So called Windows Phone application that is on Windows 7 totaly S.U.C.K.S.... it's ugly (just a white background) and just looks like a crappy early beta, for something that Microsoft is prmoting this should be a top application and look awesome that would give as many features as iTunes does....THey used to to that...

iTunes is painfully slow even on higher end hardware.

There is the Windows Phone sync program if you want to sync applications or music or videos that way. Microsoft embraced the more modern approach, where you can use your phone without needing to own a computer.

Although I enjoyed using the Zune player simply because it is more robust than the xbox music app. I for one hated having to sync my phone to my computer every time I wanted to put new songs on it. Now if a band or song pops in my mind, I simply download it straight to the phone. Simple as that!
