iOS not uploading in background

Ive just moved from Lumia 950 to iPhone7 and want to keep using Onedrive for my photos. However onedrive wont upload in the background unless the app is open. Ive checked all the usual options for background working but cant get it to work.

Anyone come across this?

Does OneDrive have permission to access Location when Always? (check Privacy settings)

Personally, background uploading for non-iCloud services was more miss than hit for me.

This is a pre-iPhone 7 issue and its Apple trying to make you use it's services. I have this same problem on my iPhone 6S Plus running iOS 9.3. It only uploads when you actually open OneDrive. I've looked and there is no setting in OneDrive or Photo's & Camera to allow automatic upload in the back ground to OneDrive. Only to iCloud.
