iPhone 5 or Windows Phone 8

So you feel that WP8 will be adopted in the corporate environment?

Only if IT management can show that WP8 is not only just as capable as the iPhone and Android devices, but also that they integrate better with the office infrastructure and provide more security.

Guess you've never met a real blackberry fan. They are loyal. Also, try going to crackberry.com and ask do they want a new BlackBerry.

The only reason why I switched away from using a BlackBerry was an increasing use on my part of Microsoft Services and not enough integration on the part of RIM to suit my needs.

Yes, AT&T. Also neglected to mention that I have an iPhone 4 & when I upgraded my wife I also upgraded my kids to 4S'. We share an iTunes acct so I see firsthand how useless many of these apps really are...

You mean people don't need 45 different flashlight apps?
Are you a big Apple family?

I'll pose another question....I've read recently where Macs are starting to become more and more common in corporate and homes. Anybody find this to be true or false?

What sort of answer do you think you are going to get on a windows forum? Sure you are going to get a couple of objective posters but...

How can any "find" anything? All they will do is report their own experience - which is worthless - go and find some statistical evidence for either position.

That's a terrible excuse. What about people that want cheap games that aren't total @#$%? The app situation on windows phone is getting embarrassing, have we gotten a big name app after Skype?

In this whole post all I am asking for is experiences and opinions. I am not interested in statistics.

As I stated earlier in this post at some point you hope people will be honest and try to help.

That's your opinion which is exactly what I am asking for in this post. I take it you prefer iPhone?

I work in a newspaper and that industry is dominated by Macs. However, I will tell you that very few of the people there actually have Macs at home. There a lot of iPhones by my employees, but all the managers have androids except for me with my WP7.

A lot of my employees actually were arguing about how much better PC's are than Mac. But some do have iPads because they thought they would help them with work but are now finding out that they really aren't helpful for that. lol.

One of my employees just purchased a Lumia 900 for her husband and when she can renew her's next year she is getting a windows phone. She realized how boring and worthless her iPhone is. She even comes into my office to have me show her stuff on mine. When I upgrade I told her I might sell her my Focus Flash.

Thank you, I really appreciate this. Somebody giving their honest opinion and trying to help. What are the main features you like about WP?

I don't think that's an iPhone restriction, I think that's just Verizon's network. I've never heard of someone on Verizon begin able to use data and voice at the same time, 3G or 4G. I have a non-iPhone VZW smartphone right now and I've never been able to do it.

All Verizon 4G phones can use voice and data at the same time on 4G except for the iphone 5. Some Verizon smartphones can do voice and data at the same time on 3G, the HTC Thunderbolt and Rezound being two of them. With that said that capability probably isn't that big of a deal for long-time Verizon smartphone users because the Thunderbolt was the first Verizon phone with that capability and it only came out last year.

Is just my opinion that IOS game apps embarrass our selection in both quantity, pricing and quality? I prefer windows phone but I'm not living on denial.

From my experience, no. I work in a business campus where there are thousands of employees. There are dozens of new PCs given to folks every day (we are on a 2.5 year cycle for new computers). I can think of about 10-20 people that have Macs in my building, and our complex has quite a few buildings. The folks that do have them are typically in a photography/brand role.

Although our tech support and information security guys flip back and forth on whether or not we MIGHT roll out more Macs one day.

But, then again that is just where I work :)

You are welcome.

I will tell you the history of phones I've had over the past several years. My first smartphone was Blackberry. LOVED IT!!!
Bought an iPhone 3G and returned it before the 30 days was up because I couldn't get into it. Boring phone no information, nothing special. Went back and got Android. I've had 2 different Androids because they were pretty good. I liked them, and honestly they would be the only way I would ever go back to.

Had a symbian for about 6 months, and liked it as well. But after checking out everything that WP could do tried it and probably will not go anywhere else, unless it was back to Android.

The reasons, I like WP so well is because it is just smooth. It does everything I need it to do right out of the box. I love how easy social media is integrated into the phone. I've noticed over the past months with WP that I am on my phone less, but get more done if that makes sense. I love using SkyDrive and just the whole ecosystem. I use Office probably a couple of times a month and it is so nice to have that ability on my phone. Bing search is great especially with the built in searches it has. I just moved to another town and used Local Scout everyday for about 2 weeks for everything. It was great. I still use it every now and then even though I have been here for about 4 months.

If you have any other questions just ask, I will do my best to answer them.

We have a family Mac & a few iPads- family calendars linked through iCloud, etc. fortunately I think I've found a way to accomplish the calendar thing through outlook.com.

iPad has been somewhat of a letdown for me- primarily use now just to read on airplanes.

Anyone know if the Surface has a reading app? Waiting for the Pro...

I think Windows reader is one

Who's living on denial? IOS is great for my kids because all they use their iPhones for is texting, music & games. I, on the other hand, use my phone for mostly everything since I travel a great deal for work & don't have a lot of interest (or time) for games. If that's your thing, IOS may be better right now.

I'm just bored. Want to try something new & WP8 is exactly that. Hoping others feel that way too & a market develops for more app options.
