Is 930 still worth buying in these days? Shouldn?t I wait?

Hi, I?m about to buy a new Windows Phone device and since 930 is a formal WP flagship (1520?s screen is just too large for me), I?m considering this one. My question is: do you think it is still worth purchasing? I don?t want to get myslef a phone for Christmas, that will grow old in a jiffy. First, it?s the specs. Presumably, there are some new upcoming devices in 2015 and they will be more powerful. Isn?t the Snapdragon 800 just too old? I believe the system is running very smoothly, however what about the app performance and more demanding games? Is any 930 owner able to tell me whether the phone can run these just as well? And what about the software support? I know the situation differs from an Android scene, but I?m still startled about 930 not being updated soon. Is this real? It should be getting the Windows 10 update, but still... What do you people think about this?

The 930 is very modern specs wise. And it's camera is above average.
It's worth getting-in my opinion-because it's extremely cheap. Only a little bit more expensive than the brand new 830. If you're willing to contend with small issues like a blocky design and slight overheating it's a good buy. The Icon is the one that has issues with updates, the international 930 should be perfectly fine.

And if the 930 doesn't get Windows 10, we should be worried about the future of Windows Phones, haha. Considering the Lumia 930 is the current "flagship"

Actually, I had a chance to hold it in my hand for a few minutes and it didn?t seem as blocky as it was told to be. By my merits, it?s dimensions are still quite plausable, even for a high-end flagship. So no, that doesn?t trouble me much. And what about the performance (even the gaming one)? Do you think it can last for some time?

And if you're thinking about waiting for a new phone, there probably won't be one until next year. And not early.
Maybe a new iteration of the 930, with a more 830ish design except with far better specs(obviously), a 1030 is a much requested device and hopefully the 1530.

The performance is exemplary. It's not outdated at all. The 801 used in most Android flagships is only marginally better and the 805 has only appeared in one device(the Note 4) and you can't really compare the 930 to a business orientated phone like the Note. Gaming will be very smooth with great graphics.

Battery life may not be as good as you want it to be, but it's acceptable as long as you charge it every night.

Every php e is pretty much obsolete within weeks of buying (with exceptions). How long is your average network contract? Unless you buy unlocked/sim free phones then any phone you get via your network provider will be with you for a while. Buying the latest phones can be problematic - bugs, etc - with early customers being extended testers. I always try and get a model that has been out for about 3 months. By then its probably had a firmware update or two.

In the same boat as the OP. Looking to replace my 925, but since the 1520 is too big for me, the only option the way I see it is the 930. The hardware is fine, I'm no gamer or anything. I am more concerned with the heating issue and the 'purple hue' issue. Appreciate the input from others in this thread.
I'm in Denmark and will be buying unlocked. Have looked at the new iPhone as well, but it is so very expensive in comparison. There's just no way to justify it imho. Left Android a few years ago. Not going back.

I'm very happy with my 930. No major overheating issues, except when I got it. After putting all updates on and the latest Dev Previews all was fine. The screen is very nice. I was a bit shocked to see a camera comparison between the 830 and the 930. The 830 produced noticeable better pictures, which may be a result of the fact that the 830 already has the Denim firmware and the 930 Cyan.

My 930 still has pinkish greys when the screen is dimmed down, perhaps a technical limitation of the screen technology used.

But it is very fast, apps start quickly and the 5" screen is great to do Skype, email, browsing, etc. (I don't game that much).

Battery lasts about 2 days. The design is good, a bit iPhonish and not really "typical" Lumia. It is a bit heavy, 20gr less would have been good.

I bought mine from BASE.de in Germany for only 299€, which is a very good price imho. With Denim and Win10 this phone will still be an excellent performer.

i really don't understand why people ask such questions?
i mean, 930 is a flagship phone. it is around for just a few months. there is no next flagship announced yet. why it would not be worth to buy?
and i request all the people to understand (plz plz plz), there is a next phone come, does not make the older one obsolete. older one does survive for years. this is just a phenomenon created by all the companies that u feel urself to buy the latest soon as it comes.
older phones are also worth buying it they are good in their specs / performance when they launched.
like, if u go for buying Lumia 920 / 820 (if u get a fresh with warrenty) now, they are still worth buying. no apps or games are made yet, which cannot be run on these.

I can highly recommend the 930. As far as performance goes, there's nothing to worry about. In fact, an Android user on Youtube called AndroidAndyUK has recently pitted the 930 against a Samsung Galaxy S5 in several tasks, and the Lumia won out overall. The S5 is running a Snapdragon 805 versus the 800 in the Lumia 930.
I've had the Lumia 930 for several weeks now, and haven't had any problems with performance whatsoever. Also no problems with purple hue here.
