I'm developer who made 'Insider' app. Insider | Windows Phone Apps+Games Store (United States)
(I'm Korean and not good at English)

I get feedback from some users about battery drain issue. (Insider app is used more than 200,000 users)
I want to be identifying whether app have a battery drain problem.
whether WP8 OS issue or not...

Please let me know if others users has problems.

Thanks for your help.

I would help you but i guess you know more then most of us :) If you don't know what's the issue then we don't either :) I'm now almost completely sure it's an OS bug.

ChrisKim10 I have a feeling that it is a process in Windows Phone 8 that seems to take a lot of battery power randomly. It is in Amber and also the previous update version as well I think. I have been trying to track the issue down for some weeks but there doesn't seem to be any tools to monitor down to process level battery usage. It also seems to be random as well. I have found that if I am getting major drain and power down my phone and then start it again it clears the issue. It might stay fixed for a day or so and then it comes back again and I have to go through the same process.

I do like your app.

I have the app and I have started having issues with the battery after I pinned the live tile. Since it was the only change I have made on my phone and previously everything has been fine, I'm pretty sure it's the app's live tile.

Live tiles destroy battery life plain and simple. My live tiles had died and battery life became amazing....of course it broke a core functionality of my phone. I uninstall a bunch of apps to get tiles working again and now battery life is in the crapper...

Dear ChrisKim,

I've used your app since it's inception, and I've continued using it until this month. I uninstalled the app, despite purchasing the Pro version, because one record indicated a drop of 29% in 20 min. I'm still trying to figure out what the issue is (I've uninstalled skype before for the same reason, and it appeared to help for a while); I was getting perhaps 1-2% battery drain per hour at one point, and I'm trying to recreate this situation. Your app did not always give me battery issues, so I'm going to reinstall soon to see what difference it makes.

Hi,

I would also like to mention that I am having the same issue. I installed "Insider" yesterday, and since then I have been getting 25% per hour drain. Previously I would get 2% per hour.

I should also mention that Insider is a great application. It is the first WP app that I have considered buying, but obviously this battery issue must be resolved first.

Thanks,
Mark

Hi Chris thank you for your wonderful app...I have been using it ever since i bought my Lumia...so far not facing any battery drain issues...my 720 drops just about 2%per hour with location and wi fi and glance (peek) always on...ya but if i play some games or use Facebook or surf the net it drains at about 15%per hour...I don't think the issue is with your app..its just a brilliant app.....thanks again...

Is your 720 alsow ith Bluetooth on? And does Glacne took so much power?

Am asking because I expected the 720 to be a lot more lasting than my ATIV S, which could get the same figure but without the Bluetooth switched on.

No I really don't use Bluetooth much so its always off....I don't know how much power the glance consume...i don't think it is taking much though ...what i figure out is mobile data WhatsApp and Facebook beta all take too much power ...all in all i guess 720 can last for 7 hours of continuous on screen time ...
