Is it safe to update to windows 8.1 on nokia lumia 520?

I want to have windows 8.1 on my nokia lumia 520. But i am confused that is it safe? Like will my phone hang or will i have any difficulty in future? Please help me.

As long as you don't do anything stupid (let the battery die, turn it off, throw it out a window or use it as a raft for your toy soldiers) it's 100% safe

Of course, bad things can happen with any phone update on any OS.

But I think the risks of anything going south is well worth the benefits. Especially considering starting from scratch can fix just about any update related issue.

I never updated mine, a few friends who also own 520 did and said it became a lot slower =/
