Is the 640 a dailydriver phone?

I don't personally own a 640 but if it supported Verizon's bands I would have either it or the xl as a backup for my icon. I played with both at att and they are both very nice phones at their price points. Probably the XL becoming my daily driver cuz I liked the larger screen.

Yes, most definitely. I would totally get the Lumia 640 if it was available with Verizon CDMA LTE (I don't get coverage with AT&T or Tmobile here).

My only issue with making this my daily driver is i am making payments on a G4 and i have no clue what will happen to windows phone in the next year or so. For all i know Microsoft pulls the plug.

Seriously doubt Microsoft is going to pull the plug. There's no point going through the trouble they are now if only to pull the plug.

So you're good.

Why wouldn't it be? What do you require of a daily driver? If you want a phone that makes calls, browses the web, gives directions, has an excellent personal assistant, takes great pictures and videos, has access to over a hundred thousand apps, is easy to use, puts info front and center on live tiles, can stream music, tv, movies, check weather, check sports scores and on and on and on, all while looking good, then yes... This phone (and I just about described every Windows phone) would make a great day driver. :)
And I was just using mine for a nightstand clock.....

Yea... the plug won't be pulled. Haven't you been reading the blog posts on this site?

Anyways, getting the Lumia 640 isn't going to require you to make payments like those other phones. In fact, it's selling for $69 right now at Best Buy: Microsoft Microsoft Lumia 640 4G with 8GB Memory NoContract Cell Phone Black NOKIA LUMIA 640 - Best Buy

Look around the 640 forum. You don't see posts of "I regret I spent a little money on a fantastic phone."

The Lumia 640 hands down beats phones in it's price range plus you can have it unlocked by AT&T and I would also prefer getting your hands on a different back cover like White, Orange, or Cyan as the Black one that comes with the AT&T feels very cheap in comparison to the glossy back covers

I doubt the plug will be pulled as well. Microsoft invested a lot in buying the LUMIA rights and have subsequently invested more on windows 10 universally working across devices. I think you will get a few years to come at least.
