Is Windows Phone worth to switch?

Did you tried the Facebook app on both platforms? I don't feel sorrow for the applefanboys, usually its them who starting the flame baits in numerous fora or techsites, just like a bunch of kids on a schoolyard.
Some other apps is a bit vague, there are aprox 250000 aps, Facebook is just one of them, and there a quite a few of them.

I just read that many wp8 apps would simply be a shortcut to their website and no proper app.
No, I just tested Facebook app on ios5 and android 4.2 . The iOS app had more content view in it.

Well some are, but if you use Ios, Droid or Wp8x or whatever you wil always find something that isnt to your ( or mine ) liking.
Somehow i got the idea that you already made up your mind, if you realy think that Ios can give you more than WP, than go for it.
Because its al true, Apple's Ios is the finest and the best operatingsystem ever.
Never freezes, locks up or chrashes, same thing for there hardware.
Its the most sophisticated piece of equipment.
It never gives troubles, and wen it does, than you did something wrong because it never can happend with Apples Ios or hardware.

O before you run of to the shop.

Google It For Me!

I hope honestly, you were kidding in a sarcastic way. I had iOS myself and it made huge problems. That was with iOS 3-5. iOS5 was a desaster.I checked it out with iPhone 3Gs as well as iPhone 4S-I had to return the iPhone 4S. At WP, I like the aesthetics and swiping (fluid using), on Android their functionality.

Now, I'm tending between Android and WP8.1. iPhone has lost the race because of iTunes. I'm an IT student therefore, it could be anadvantage for me with android. However, I'm awaiting Microsoft's release on wednesday. Let's face it, what they'll present.

I am always sarcastic when it comes to Ios.
Mostly because 99.9% of postings from Fanboys are flamebaits towards anything what isn't Ios
Personaly i think it because of a identitycrisis or something like that.

But seriously,
You should go for what ever gives you any advantage to your study, if that is Droid go for Droid.
After you finished your education, you can always buy a WP device.
You can also choose to wait a couple of day's and try a handson on a WP8.1 device.

But what ever you do................

You should always choose for your education, no mater what.
Thats your future and our legacy.

I have read some posts about WP8 apps not crashing like they do on android. On youtube I even saw a video on which the Note 3 and Lumia 1520 were compared. The started and played the game "GTA". On Note 3, the app crashed several times and he got that message on the homescreen, while it ran on WP8 without problems at the first time. Finally, after approx. 1 minute, the app ran on Note 3 as well.
Let's not forget Androids lags. It sucks as hell! In a video, the Nexus 5 was compared to Lumia 1520. Guess who lagged at least a bit: It was the Nexus 5. I've heard you need to root your device to minimize such lags. Some even say, by rooting the lags go and it is fluid.
Our university supports android courses as electoral subjects, but Microsoft was also present on our uni for promoting the surface. Back in those days, MSFT offered a Lumia 920 for free for those who programmed any apps for WP8. For me, it's up to the BUILD on WED.
One of the few reason I like Android so much would be the many functions. And whenever it is not full packed with bloaware, it has got new effects/animations. One more reason would be that you can make it secure and safer on your own with Replicant or encryption tools.

What does "parallax view" mean? WP8.1 is to have it. Is it the same as in iOS7, if you move your device to the left and right, you can see how the elements on the screen are hovering/floating?

Don't lean to much on the YouTube movies or public opinion, just try to get a hands on experience ( maybe a phone from a friend ). Search for the apps you need before you buy a phone so you won't be disappointed.

I tried out the lumia 1020 in a t-mobile local store, but the tiles were too huge for me. On the other hand it was the old style were you have 4 little tiles in a row instead of 6. It looked like a smartphone os for seniors or old people with weaknesses in eye sights.
Many apps I need are available for wp8. They have also bad reputations in the store for their quality. As everyone knows, as soon as you get a smartphone, you play with it and you wanna get more and new apps.

Lol!
Must be a lot seniors in them 1020 forums.
At what age does one become old?

What to expect at Build 2014: Windows Phone 8.1, Windows 8.1 Update 1, and more

What to expect at Build 2014: Windows Phone 8.1, Windows 8.1 Update 1, and more

Microsoft's highly anticipated Build 2014 Developer Conference is set to take place in San Francisco on April 2nd and will last until the 4th. While the weather is expected to be partly cloudy on April 2nd, developers and consumers around the world will be luminous, excited, and looking forward to what Microsoft has in store at the sold-out event.

Microsoft is expected to unveil Windows Phone 8.1, the next big update to Windows Phone 8, sometime during the event. Windows Phone 8.1 is set to bring an action center, a Siri-like voice assistant called 'Cortana' and much more. Other features include a password manager for Internet Explorer, the ability to view emails offline, better battery management, on-screen navigation support, and much more.

Microsoft has already said that Windows Phone 8.1 will be made available to any device currently running Windows Phone 8. Here's our hands on video of a leaked Windows Phone 8.1 build, showcasing some of the new features in action:

Microsoft acquired Nokia's devices and services division back in September of 2013 for a whopping sum of $7.2 billion. Microsoft is expected to complete the deal sometime in April, and perhaps we might hear about it during the event.

Microsoft is also expected to unveil Windows 8.1 Update 1. We've seen leaked builds and details about the update, which adds improved functionality for consumers who are using a mouse and keyboard. Update 1 brings along a new context UI menu for the Start Screen, quick access to the Power and Search buttons on the Start Screen, familiar window controls for Modern UI apps, and easier multitasking between Modern and Desktop applications with the taskbar.

Under the hood changes include reduced hardware requirements, meaning the operating system can now run on hardware with as low as 1GB RAM and 16GB storage. Microsoft is expected to release the update to MSDN on April 2nd, with general availability on April 8th via Windows Update during April's Patch Tuesday.

Microsoft also touched on DirectX 12 during the Games Developer Conference (GDC) a couple weeks ago, and perhaps the company will further showcase the new gaming API at Build. DirectX 12 has been redesigned to be faster and more efficient than ever before, boosting overall performance.

Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella, during his Office for iPad announcement, promised that "Windows will innovate" and the company is expected to talk about "innovations in the operating system and innovations in devices" at the Build 2014 event.

Microsoft likely has other details in store for us during the event and the company is also expected to have a live stream of the event, which we will provide to you once it becomes available. What announcement are you most looking forward to?

Oke, the paralax view.
Its not easy to explane in a other language then my own.
So thats why i pasted this link
Just watch the third video from the top

WP8.1 Videos: Running on a Lumia 630, and “Parallax View” Start Screen : Nokia Innovation

Me just talking about not leaning to much on youtube and social media hahahaha

What about WP8.1 now? Temporarily, I use an Huawei Smartphone with ANdroid and I'm not completely satisfied with this device. Therefore, I hope WP8.1 is it worth. I totally like its UI and there is no such alternative for android. Only the ecosystem is problematic at WP. What's your opinion?

If you want to get a WP, get the WP8. The WP 8.1 is not stable as of now, so wait a few more months then buy it, you won't regret it.

However, to answer your question, currently it's not worth to switch yet to WP, if you can wait for 2-3 months though, it will be really worth it.

I can wait til November. So, I wouldn't be disappointed? How do you know it already? Android devices have lacks in any kind. HTC in camera, Samsung in design and software, Sony in several smaller parts.

Well if you try WP8.1 now, you would probably love it, until you meet some bugs. The bugs then after 2-3 months will definitely be squashed, and you would have a great OS. Not only that, but probably in those months or around November Microsoft will definitely release a phone, and that phone would probably have high-end specs (lest Microsoft doesn't want to gain revenue).

Android is well... fragmented. As you said each company lacks something, and we users only hope that we get the "good device" per say that has no faults. It's like gambling, while WP is almost definitely a good quality.

What about now? I was at stores and compared Xperia Z3, IPHONE 6 and lumia 930. The touchscreen was at the iphone the best as well as the light feeling of the phone in the.hand and the app functionalty. At WP, I miked the layout. So it is really the fact that microsoft takes something and makes it beautiful like on visual studio or outlook.com. Just a few apps were live tiling. The homescreen I liked the best at android and windows phone. But the app functionality, contents are on iphone better. I write this as an independant user. iPhone was the best at discovering new apps. But on the other hand, only jailbroken iphones make fun. It is a difficult decision cause they all are narrowed. I can also say that Lumias are great for lowend and mid end sector but not for the high end class devices. After 22 months they smash new high end devices. Thats sad. I don't know how it is at WP8.1 but as a functioning phone, I like iPhones more than Androids. Back when I had an iPhone I was sad that it was slow after a time. But a brand new galaxy s5 is as fast as an iphone that is already 1 year old.
