issue with sorting photos by numbers (photos renamed, 001-050), not sorting in correct order

I create a folder on my laptop an paste 50 photos in it. Then, I rename all photos with numbers 000-050. On my Windows laptop, the photos are sorted correctly (001, 002, 003, ... 049, 050).

However, after copying the entire folder to my 1020, some of the photos are not sorted correctly anymore. A few of them appear somewhere in the middle of my album (folder).

The problem is on the phone only.



When I connect the phone with my laptop, the photos in the folder (on the laptop) is shown correctly.



Very confusing. Any idea how to solve the problem?

Photos on phone are sorted by date and time. It does not matter if you rename them ? Also its showing fine on your laptop because you have set to show photos in order by name.

Thanks for your reply. What I don't understand when you say it sorts by date, these two photos where taken at the very beginning of our holiday... Why are they shown in the middle of the album?

And, if you say 'date', do you mean the EXIF date or the date of the file (which could also be the edited date, saved date etc.)

I am not sure if there is such settings in windows phone 8.0 , I am using windows phone 8.1 dev preview and I found a new setting for the same , when I go into phone settings / applications tab / photos + camera / un-tick group my photos by time and location.
