Java Update

Can anyone explain why I keep getting prompted to install a Java Update on my Surface Pro 3? Shouldn't all the updates be pushed through the "Update and Recovery" portal? I don't remember getting the prompt for Java updates on my SP 1.

I do believe Java is outside of the Update and Recovery portal. I may be wrong, but I know I have to do Java on my own. I'd suggest letting it run its update.

Did you have Java installed on your SP1? If yes, then perhaps automatic update for Java was turned off? Java is not a part of Windows (unlike Flash is from Windows 8.0 onwards) so you won't get updates for it via Windows Update but directly from Oracle.
