Well...it finally happened. I dropped my 1520 last night ans shattered the screen... Rather than buy a new phone or an older flagship, I went to the Microsoft store and purchased a 640 and a folio case.

I am only missing hey Cortana the most important... The dedicated camera button. I have a MS Bad, so I can invoke Cortana from that and I enabled double tap to wake and have the camera app on the quick access... So I can get the camera fairly quick.

Not as powerful as the 15, but it does all I need and was inexpensive... I am waiting on the real flagship ans this will get mw through.

The phone is super smooth. Reminds me of my old 920, which I sold at the Microsoft stir for like $14. The folio case is nice too. After having a couple with the 1520, I couldn't get another phone without one.

I will sell the broken 1520 for whatever I can get... It has a broken screen, bur the screen protector kept all glass together. The camera app doesn't work which ia weird... That was enough to make mw buy a new phone. I have a 635, but the lack of a front facing camera ans the limited ram kept it from being a daily driver. And the fact that I have windows 10 on there and it is so slow...

Anywho... I am happy with the 640.

Nice. I think my 920 is in its last leg after dropping it so many time over the years and having deal with dust, mud and water :) I had it since the first day it came out in 2012. Now I can only talk to people through speaker phone :)

If it die on my before the 950 and 950xl comes out, I will be getting 640 to keep me going while waiting.

Your 920 still won't end it's life if you replace parts yourself, you can purchase a part like a primary 920 microphone in ebay and put it yourself, videos on how in YouTube. I've replaced my 1320 microphone myself months ago, and I thought I had to replace my phone that time, I was wrong. It still lives!

Yeah, the 920 is a tank. I had it since the first day as well. I still used it as a camera while on my kayak up until I sold it... Man I miss that camera button. The 920 has been wet, dropped, bruised... but kept on going! If I would not have messed up the sim card contacts, I would still be using it... but I put a sim adaptor in the slot with no sim card... silly, but it was to store the adapter until I to swap the sim out of the 1520 to the 920 (nano to micro sim).

The 920 is pretty easy to pop open to put a new battery in it... but the sim slot was no as easy to me... With the 1520, I see that I can buy new screens... but I just don't have the time. I will sell it and let someone else repair it. I miss its extra size and the extra benefit of the power it had to offer over the 640, but the 640 is solid for me so far. It will keep me going until I get the new flagship phone offered by Microsoft.

You did the right thing. Replacing the screen on the 1520 is a risky proposition. I bought a used, green, 1520 to replace my broken yellow one after a terrible experience with a screen replacement effort. Enjoy the 640!
