First of all, what setting do you guys use? What's the difference between the JPEG and DNG?

Secondly, I've taken a couple of pictures and when I view them in the photos apps and zoom in, they are extremely noisy/grainy and blurry. What am I doing wrong? I mean, I have been into photography for years so I usually know what I'm doing, but something isn't right here. Even my old android phone is taking better pictures of the same picture.

Is there a plastic covering over the lens (bought brand new) that I'm just not seeing?

Jpeg captures a 5 mp picture, and that's why your photos are grainy. DNG is the file format that most DSLRs use. DNG files capture a 35-38 mp picture, just you need to use a post-processing software to share it.

The option I see is JPEG (5MP + 34MP) and JPEG (5mp) + DNG (34MP)

I currently have the JPEG 5pm + 34mp, so shouldn't it still be 34mp?

So nokia is always advertising 41mp. Are you saying the average consumers (probably 99% of people who don't use post processing software) can't even see the 41mp picture?

Depends. Jpegs compress the photo with high quality loss. DNG is what comes out of the sensor, no changes.
