hello all, after seeing that the BBC have released another new app on ios i decided to send them a complaint.
I would like to complain about the poor level of support afforded to the Windows Phone platform compared to its ios and android alternatives. BBC regularly updates and provides new apps for both ios and android yet does not offer the same support for Windows Phone which now has potentially nearly 10% market share according to recent market analysis.
As a Windows phone user I feel a complete sense of bias against a very large number of TV license holders who should be provided the same focus in regards to app development as the other competing mobile platforms. I know that the BBC has recently added iplayer to the Windows Phone marketplace but on the other two platforms the BBC has many other apps which do not yet feature in the Windows Phone market place.
To illustrate my complaint I will list the official BBC apps available on andriod/ios: BBC news, iplayer, media player, iplayer radio, sport, weather and BBC good food recipes and on the Windows Phone store the only official app is BBC iplayer. To me it is unacceptable for a public funded service such as the BBC to completely ignore a very large number of the public and i would hope that there are plans in motion to offer a unbiased level of support to all mobile platforms.
I know the app situation has improved since Windows Phone 8 releases but if a public funded company refuses to release apps on all major platforms then something has to be done, so please do your bit and let the powers that be know that the Windows Phone community would like an unbiased level of support, plus we are paying for this service. So if you want I would recommend sending your complaint to BBC - Complaints - Complain Online.
Thanks
