George, whatever is said on non-english is not worth reading it, cuz it has nothing to do with the thread topic, so you are not missing anything. We were just joking, lol.
Whatever is said on english on the other side, well... you already read it and its topic related. We are just having fun on non-english while waiting for the update :)

As I said before; then take it to private messages.
And, yay firmware!

I have some good news from the same CEO of Customer Services at Samsung:

Looks like the update should be rolled out very soon (oh crap, I said the s-word) :excited:
That is brilliant.

I hope ATIV SE owners will be getting the update soon, too, because they seem to need it MUCH more than we do.

Just reinstalled dp8.1 + update 1 (for the holidays I reverted back to 8.0 to avoid problems with the camera at the beach, lol).
No problem during installation, same camera issue when switching to video, but the flashlight now looks working fine. Several new feature to discover, the battery life seems to have improved, the phone now looks really cool.

The official update will be released by Samsung or Microsoft?

Made by Samsung, but released by MS i guess..
It's nice to finally read something good about a possible firmware update for a change, but i'm still not entirely convinced. I mean, all the news regarding thew firmware has been unofficial so far.. (good and bad news) Maybe, the CEO of Samsung just got confused and was thinking about the WP 8.1 DP or something. It's not like there is a lot of understanding @ Samsung (support even) regarding "our" OS.
I'm not gonna get my hopes up just yet, i'll believe it when i see it as a download, or see an official statement lol. Still, good job on at least gettig some info neo158! :D

Shouldn't this be at offical news page? I mean this is the first official info we got.
I think it isn't official unless we see pending updates on our phones, or Samsung puts a statement on their website/releases an official statement regarding an update or something. The last 2 things never happened before as far as i know, so i'm expecting to see a newspost op WPcentral soon in the lines of: "Samsung Ativ users reporting getting updates from Samsung for WP8.1" ;)
[sub]I say expecting, but ofc i mean: hope. :p[/sub]

Just got off the phone from Samsung UK support about updates for my ATIV S.... and not much cause for hope on that one.

It took 3 departments before they put me through to the right one (for some reason they thought ATIV S was a dishwasher). Quoting the model GT-i8750 finally seemed to get the right response and I was put through to the smartphone department.

However, I was then informed that I was unable to install Android on this particular handset..... (err, thanks guys, I didn't actually plan on doing that in the first place).

After sorting that one out, the assistant then took 7 minutes to find someone who actually knew anything about this handset.

It would seem, judging from the confusion, I am apparently the first person in the UK to contact them about this phone.

However, after all that, they have no information regarding any firmware updates at this time [head banging on desk]..

Current firmware: 2424.13.10.1

It's in Microsoft's hands? Jolly good. I just hope the fact MS have just started suing Samsung does not affect this. the UK support desk knows nothing about it either..

Not holding my breath - still it would be nice to be able to use the (firmware dependant) Samsung HDR camera app for a change.

The difference is that I went direct to the CEO, you rang the support monkeys who don't know a smartphone from a dishwasher. My point being that they won't have any information on new firmware yet as it isn't available to the public, the CEO I contacted went to the relevant department and asked them a direct question.

How about we all got contact from that CEO? i mean, like email or something, and then bombarding his Inbox with questions?
We have a saying here in Macedonia, it goes like: "If the baby doesn't start to cry, it doesn't get the boobs (read: MILK)", LoL.
