I got the official firmware update this morning.
View attachment 86498
The animations seem way faster than before.
I still have to use the phone to see if there are some issues.
Edit: how come prothor, Boris NevermorE and Appalling Outlook have a different firmware version?
I have Firmware Revision Number: 2424.14.9.3
They have Firmware Revision Number: 2424.14.9.4

It's a regional variant that probably has fixes and languages for their region. I have the same firmware version as you.

Also, you might want to remove the IMEI Number from the picture.

No problem buddy, but thank me when i found (if i found) a solution to your problem.
And i am really emerging everyone who might know something about gugman's problem, to share it so we can help our ATIV S brother, instead of just telling him what he did wrong. I am pretty sure he is already aware of the mistakes he did. Thank you! :)

no, he isnt aware of it.
How do you want to fix a hardware problem? On GDR3 everything is ok, on WP 8.1 camera wont work.. What could be wrong? The firmware isnt working correctly. Why? Because the user flashed the phone again and again and again and the phone is half bricked / half working or the installed ROMs (no info about the source) just messed up the whole phone.

Thats the truth. Why should I lie to him? I dont want to be the coolest WP user on this forum like you dear Boris :)

Me too !
Purchased in Finland, Language set to UK ENGLISH for Cortana.
Default CSC=NEE
Current CSC=NEE (Never Changed)

Samsung OTA update loaded even though DP was enabled. (Thank to MS and SAM for resolving the issues, better late and stable than never).

New Update from DP after this.
wp_ss_20141104_0002.png
Installed, no prob.

Vivid changes.
CAM pic/vid toggle issue is fixed,
Windows and Samsung (This indicates a FW change for those in doubt) Boot screen changed,
bootr.jpg
I had issues with digitizer alignment by 1 mm or so, that's seems to be fixed too.
Seems more stable since FW change !

Now I'm feeling greedy for WP10 on Ativ S!

Wow, so much hostility. All Boris stated is that he's looking for a solution, not that he is certain it's a software or hardware problem but going on the fact that it works on GDR3 and not 8.1 suggests to me that it's not a hardware problem.

What it also suggests is that they have GDR2 firmware with 8.1 and I know that the camera WILL fail to work in that case.

Hardware =/ Software. Hardware can't be dammaged by software. It is (still) impossible. You can screw firmware, brick the phone or so on, but HW part of phone will still be intact. He may have hardware problems, but they can't be caused by software.
Also, when flashing phone, memory containing firmware is erased before writing new stuff. so after next flashing you are actually starting over.

My recommendatin for him is to go to the service station, explain the problem. If they can't bring camera to life with their boxes, like said he does have hardware problem.

Just a recap for those with WP8.0 Preview for Developers (PfD) getting their updates to WP 8.1

First you'll get update with OS version 8.10.14192.280 and after this to OS version 8.10.14176.243 (thanks to K LL for the screenshots)

While none PfD users gets only OS version 8.10.14157.200
Not sure about some small updates after this one.

Argh, this is so annoying, everybody getting updates, while I'm nervously tapping the "check for updates" button and nothing happens. :straight:

You can often tell if you have an update because it takes longer to find an update than usual.

I really don't know why is that, but for me logic explanation is that this is maybe CSC related. Cuz Daniel Rubino of Windows Central got the same firmware 9.3. But I am not 100% sure about this. I got this 9.4 on NEE CSC.

It doesn't matter to me. I have WP8.1.1 before the vast majority of Nokia phones and it makes me happy even though I feel a bit stupid.
I have been able to play a bit with Cortona, and I must admit that for now, I am not impressed. I should keep playing with it to see if it interacts better with me after practising me a bit more.
So far my wife is way above Cortona and she's got some extra features such as understanding when it is time for my beer, etc...
Ladies, I was just kidding...

First of all, what have you against me? Why are you so hostile sometimes, does that makes you more funny or what? At least i am searching solution for his problem or maybe not a solution but explanation too. I just came from 2 mobile service shops, both of the guys are my good friends (both huge WP fans). I ask them about this problem he has and they told me (what we all techy people know, including you) that too much flashing one ROM after another can damage some of your hardware and as you said can bring the phone into half bricked/half working state. So, you are right about that. My point in the post was that, we are not helping him if we keep telling him what he did wrong, but if we cannot find a solution for his problem, at least we can explain him why is that happening.
As you Pappale said, his phone is working fine with GDR3, so it's probably the roms who he is flashing the problem. I will suggest coming down all the way to GDR1 and start clean from there with CSC that he knows for sure will take him up to GDR3 and later pick up the official 8.1.1
About software can't damage hardware, it is not entirely true. It can't damage the hardware directly but indirectly it can. I work as a slot technician in a casino where the cheapest slot machine is 11.000 euros, so imagine with how expensive electronics i am working. So, sometimes they send us new firmware that we must install in order to slot machines to work. Sometimes that is a bad firmware and there were cases where the firmware caused some reactions and overheated or burdens some piece of hardware and cause it HW damage. It's the same with smartphones. It is very rare, but it can happen. Flashing too many things on your phone in short period of time can hurt some part of your hardware. Those guys told me what parts but i cannot find corresponding names in english for that.
Bottom line, I am not trying to be cool or smart or whatever you guys think. I am just trying to be helpful to others as much as i can and know. I am not an expert in windows phone, not from a long shot, but at least i am out there, spending my free time on this forum to respond to anyones problem if i can and know how to help. We should all do that here. Be positive guys.
Cheers :)

Pappale is not as bad as we probably think. He did help with some of his post providing valuable informations. Sometimes he goes off-road, but we can forgive him that. :)
However, enough of that. Let's see which CSC's are already confirmed and legit for getting the official 8.1.1 upgrade and firmware.
I can speak only for the official 8.1.1, so, so far CSC's that got the official firmware are: ATO, BTU, DBT, ETL, NEE, PHN and TGY.
Will ask guys who are on PfD (neo158 i am looking at you, lol) to confirm if they got the 8.1.1 firmware and on which CSC's so the starter of this thread megadragon998 can frequently update the opening post with these informations :)

I got the WP8.1.1 firmware on the BTU CSC. If you want me to post a screen shot then I can?

Doesn't make a difference, when the update is available it will download and install it regardless of the PfD app being enabled or not.
