Skype has been updated to version 2.19 today. Among other features, it now has proper Fast App Resume support.

What are your experiences with it on Windows Phone 8 and 8.1? Has Resuming Time been drastically reduced or completely eliminated?

Its faster but still needs improvements. Sending files is a must. How difficult is it to implement it when apps from wp7 already have this ability.

I have only a handful of contacts, and the recent tab is empty, and when I switch back to Skype I does a short resume. I really don't see why this is needed. Why does it have to fade black and resume?
Bs.

On my Lumia 820 on WP8.1 it used to resume in 5-6 seconds. Now it resumes in 0-3. It's variating a lot, but it's at least twice faster than before, which is awesome.

Until that version number moves up to 2.5 or 3.0, and a ton of missing features are added.. I'm guessing most people here couldn't give two ****s.

Of course it's not good enough yet. But they took a (decidedly ~2 years to make it not absolutely frustrating).

So we have that. Now, onto features !

we should sign a petition to fire the entire Skype team, nadella might at least respond and whip them a bit so they start working

well, skype needs to set their priories straight tho..
as it is now, skype is barely useable for video/voice calls.. its not competing in the IM space, its just so broken(on many platforms).
i cant see them gaining market share in the IM medium sadly. Skype is one of the top 5 worse IM clients in the Windows store.. wont surprise me if it was indeed the worse, its just that bad :(

I wish you would know how much hours did I spent to open Skype for the first time on my iPhone 4. It was loading the chat history and the phone was literally exploding. After I got a Lumia I realised that Skype for WP is actually a dream.

its not fast resuming..... but its the universal app, which means this one is written with the new RT thingy.... which means it should be super fast....

but sadly its not.....

On the bright side, it may get updated as much as the RT version. I don't know if that's any better.

I think they are the same app now, if they updated the for the Windows RT, this one will update too, am I right?
