Latest update and battery life

I used my Lumia Icon much more than normal yesterday (several games of 2048, couple hours of news, multiple 30 minute phone calls, constant email checking, etc.) and was on it frequently from 7:00am to nearly midnight. Still finished the day with about 20% battery.

Today, similar use pattern and it's already down to 60% at 1pm so we'll see how today goes.

My phone doesn't seem to be discharging on its own anymore. Charged my phone a couple hours ago and it's still showing 99%. Data, WiFi and location are on.

I got the update today - Lumia 720. Installed well etc. Battery life has certainly improved - quite a bit in my case, actually. I took the phone off the charger 9 hours ago. I still have 94% battery left with really minimal usage but with all radios (except BT) on and checking mail at the shortest interval across 3 accounts. Prior to the update, I probably would have lost at least 89-90% by now. However, I also noticed that the touch interface was a bit jerky and a little insensitive (I have sensitivity to touch maxed in the settings). But then again, I have noticed this with the Lumia 720 earlier too. The screen is not as responsive and liquid-like that I would like it to be. I thought it had improved a bit with the release of 8.1 (DP). Anyways, I'll see how it goes for a few days and anyways, I am ready to upgrade my phone. I now know that I need at least 1GB RAM, 16 GB (+SD Card, ideally) running 8.1 (commercial release), 5" screen and a guarantee that the specs would do justice for whatever is the next version of Windows Phone OS.

Edit: No Cortana on my phone though. Do not yet want to install it.

My 1520 improved. I don't need to un pin cortana live tile anymore. Phone heating up issues are gone, although too early to tell. Phone appears to be smoother. I have not disabled any background tasks. Location services on. Wi-Fi on. Have whatsapp. Used 5 mins of Whatsapp. Used Skype for 30 mins video. Browsed for 30 mins. Used various other apps for 15 mins. Have 50% left after 20 hrs in my 1520.
The problem is back with the freezing of the screen. It always happens with cortana live tiles. This time there was a huge 100s of new emails that were synced. I think cortana does something with these emails and is causing this freeze. And the freeze happens if we have cortana as a live tile. I had to soft reset the phone and the heating issue disappeared.
The update did improve the battery life, but the cortana live tile issue is still not resolved.

This most recent update has done wonders for my Lumia 920! I've always had issues with this phone overheating. It'd get so hot when I was browsing the web that I wouldn't be able to hold it. For the first time in years that issue is gone. Is kinda weird. LOL! I've been browsing the web checking out peoples reactions to the update for over an hour now. My battery is a cool 92%. Remarkable

I have the feeling my Lumia 920 battery drain got worse with the last update. Especially internet explorer looks like it's draining a lot..
It was still fine with the original 8.1 dev. preview.

Took my phone off charger at 10pm last night, read a few articles before bed. I put my phone on Quiet Hours for the night and got a few KIK messages through out the night.
Woke up by alarm at 6am for work and responded to KiK messages, checked weather, traffic, few more articles.
Had a quick text conversation when I got to work at 9am and a few more in between hours, few alerts through out the day, three phone calls at about 10 to 15 minutes long.
Got home at about 5pm, checked the weather for tomorrow, few more alerts, another phone call, few articles again.

Here and there checking my kik messages and instagram since I got home and I am just now getting to 3%, almost 24 hours since my last charge... Not bad at all

It's done nothing for my battery life, still sucks since 8.1, also now my phone heats up alot more. It would only heat up when I played games now it heats up when i do just about anything

Cry now :)

My battery life was really bad at first and icon very warm. After a few days it settled down, but battery life is still not as good as it was pre-update. I was about to do a full hard reset back to factory fresh stock, but decided to wait for that hassle until cyan hits. Hopefully that won't be to much longer. Then I'll do a full reset and start over fresh. Nothing like a little house cleaning to remove the bugs.
