Looking for a USB that will fit

The USB connector on this phone is not a standard mini-usb. I've been looking for a (preferably) retractable USB to mini-usb cable. Anyone know where I can find one that will work with this phone? I've looked on Boxwave, and Proporta, but their cables show what would be a standard mini-usb.

I have and the only one that I've seen there is by Seidio. I don't know if the picture is a true representation or not, but the end on that cable does not look like the plug on my phone. Have you tried any cable other than what came with the phone? I just want to make sure that I don't buy something that won't fit. I don't know why HTC didn't use a standard mini-usb?

They use a proprietary mini usb that does several things. The seidio photo is probaly a stock photo for all their seisio restractabile sync and charge cables and if its says it will work with your device it should if not you can always send it bac\k to the store for a refund or credit.

I just want to make sure you know that any standers mini USB will work. You don't have to have that exact connector end. I have had all of the HTC WMPro devices offered by Sprint so I have left over cables and chargers from my 6700 and my Mogul all of those work fine with my TP.

I decided to take a chance and order the Seido cable just on the off chance that Jfa1 was correct and that the photo was stock and that the one that I received would be the correct one with the correct end. Well, it is not the correct end and will not fit my phone.

I also have the Sprint HTC Touch Pro, and the plug for my phone is different than any I've seen anywhere. Its rectangle, but one corner is at a 45 degree angle. The cable that I received is what I consider a standard mini-usb. The top edge is slightly smaller than the bottom edge, and the two ends are slightly crimped. That is the plug most devices use. I don't know why HTC didn't go with that style.

I guess I'll have to send it back and keep looking.

A standard Mini USB cable will work for sync and charge I have a lot of left over standard cables from my other HTC PPC's like my car charger and several wall chargers that I use all the time. Just because the connector doesn't look the same doesn't mean it wont do the job. I also have a standard mini USB to USB cable that I use to Sync my TP it also works fine.

Big D5 is correct. I interchange mini USB cables with my fuze all the time.

Thanks, to all who replied, but I don't think that you understand. The end of the cable will not fit the phone. They are totally different. The end on the cables are so different that will not physically fit, that is what frustrates me.

Sounds like you got a Micro USB connector then.

The one on the left is a Mini USB the one on the Right is a Micro USB which one do you have.

Sorry Big D5, that is not what I have. If you were to read my earlier posting I tried describing the connection that I have.

The USB connection on this phone is rectangular with one exception, one corner is at a 45 degree angle.

As I've been saying, this is a non-standard plug. I must be the only person in the world that has this type of connector.

awesome guys, i never would have thought to try out a regular usb cable in the phone due to the different ends, but after reading this and trying it, it works out perfect. thanks for the good info!!
