Lost Contacts after W10 Upgrade

So, I finally worked up the courage to upgrade my AT&T Lumia 640 Gophone to W10. I first backed up my phone then changed my phone's name as per Microsoft's advice.

Everything seemed to go well - the initial upgrade using Upgrade Advisor was successful and then I checked for additional updates and the W10 Anniversary Update successfully installed.

The thing is, ALL of my Contacts are missing and I have not been able to find a solution searching here on WC or by doing a Google search.

Can't you get the contacts from the backup?
I updated a 640 and didn't lose contacts though, but the backup might be your solution.

Might take quite some time for them to reappear based on my past experience.

So, I was able to transfer most of my contacts from my old Lumia 520 using the Transfer my Data app. What I don't understand is I thought that my contacts were backed up to my Microsoft account, OneDrive, or whatever. Am I missing something here?

Have you got an outlook account set up already? They are saved in your outlook contacts.

Windows is all about reset, reboot....
