Now with wp 8.1, the autoupload feature (on best quality) uploads the 38/34 mp versi?n of every pic to OneDrive. The normal behavior with WP 8.0 was upload the oversampled 5 MP pic...
Al least for me, this is a inconvenience because I think that is more practical the use of the 5 Mp version of every pic

It seems to be a problem with the way in which the system manages photo gallery. Maybe this "problem" will be solved with Nokia Cyan...

The fact that it didn't used to do that was also often considered a "problem", I think it is great if it does that, but would be ideal to allow you to select which one to upload.

well, I think that, for 99% of the situations, the 5 mp oversampled pic is better than the 38 mp one (display quality, size...). At least for me, it is not practical to upload photos of 10-12 MB.

It is curious that the pictures are uploaded with the name of the 5MP pic (without "_highres.jpg").

Under "Best Quality" there should be an option specific to the 1020 for 34MP vs 5MP versions.

It seems that the Auto upload system is integrated on WP, but the "double capture system" is related to the Nokia-firmware.
With the wp 8.1 preview update, seems that the autoupload feature has problems to recognize the correct picture, then it upload the big picture but with the name of the 5 MP photo.

Clearly, the best option is to allow the user to choose which photo to upload, as jhoff80 said.

I actually like this because as of right now I can't get my 1020 to be recognized on my computer, I keep getting a mtp device issue and it comes back when I uninstall the drivers and then try all over again. Also if you are worried about storage, bing rewards has a years upgrade of 100gb of onedrive storage for 400 points. I am sitting pretty at 171Gb right now, you know just in case, lol.

it is not about storage, I like the 5 mp oversampled version more than the 38 MP one :P

Agreed, I just realized my 1020 is uploading the full picture which is very impractical for me (and the full images lack the benefit of oversampling and processing). I would be happy if it would upload both and put the full-res images in a separate folder.

Does setting the upload quality in the OneDrive App effect this?

Honestly, I see this as a plus, too.

with onedrive you can upload the 5 mp pic only ( I have disabled the autoupload feature and now, I have to upload manually because autoupload is broken with the upload of 38 mp pics...)

If you set the autoupload on "good quality" instead of "better quality", it uploads a very cropped pic

This puts me off updating. I only have a measly 10gb on Onedrive and don't want to take up space with everyday photos. I'd prefer the 5mp auto upload and the choice of uploading the occasional special picture in 34mp. Despite being an early adopter of Skydrive I've never had all the free storage awards that others get and no Bing rewards as nott US.

probably you are using "5 Mp only capture" or" DNG capture" in lumia camera or autoupload witouth the "best quality" option
