Lumia 1020... I do not want Lumia Cyan and only wish to update from Amber to Black....

Been using a 920 for last couple years and bought a 1020 as an upgrade. That being said I need Lumia Black and have done my research and do not wish to update to Cyan. Stock out of the box it's running Amber. Is it possible to still only update to Black. If I select yes to phone update am I going to be 8.1 when the phone boots after? Or does it do it one stage at a time?

It updates one by one. One after the other.
I had a friend on Portico, I wanted to get her back up to speed with Black.
It had to do Amber, then Black.
You can stop at Black too, although I wonder why not Cyan? Remember, there's a disproportionate number of complaints for anything on the net.

But whatever you decide.

Have had the chance to experience it on a friends phone... Love how social networks are integrated into my phone with Black. Phone is smoother and far more fluid, and if I wanted Cortana I would have gotten Siri.
