Hi i thinking about upgrade my 920.
Im considering:
Lumia 1020:
+Great camera
+Size as 920
-AMOLED
-Older device

Lumia 930:
+ New device
+ Alluminium
-AMOLED
-Bigger size
- and of course price

So what now ?

I don't know never had one of this phones but a new model phone is always better only if you want the 1020 for his camera 📷.

To me it would be an easy decision. The 1020 is about a year old and has been marked for EOL in September 2014. The 930 is newly announced and is the best MS has to offer until late fall.

I honestly don't see the problem with your decision.

930 doesn't have glance, it's SoC is pretty outdated, battery could be better.
If you want the best camera you can get on the cellphone and you need to upgrade right now, go for 1020.
Otherwise I'll suggest waiting or considering a non-WP option.

Really, do you want the best camera or the more future proof, faster device?

We should be seeing new devices in a few months. If your going to do a contract, might consider waiting.

other "non-WP" option, is not option for me ;) Only WP.

Camera or newer device... Thats problem :D I dont know.

If 930 had PureView 40mpx from 1020 its been choice number one.
Is there any Pros and Cons on this devices that i dont write ? For better overview.

I would say it depends on whether you will be on contract or not, how urgent you are to upgrade, how important the camera is to you, and how important it is to unlock new features on WP8.1 and the next OS upgrade that are hardware dependent.

The choice would be a little clearer if you knew now when new WP devices will be released in the next six months and what their specs will be.

It really depends on your own needs which phone to get. The 930 is a great phone for sure, but if you take a real look at it, it already is more than half a year old: It just is the Lumia Icon in a global variant. In the Android world, the speedy Snapdragon 800 is already considered outdated as of now. Which of cause doesn't mean it is slow or anything, especially on a Windows Phone.

If pricing is one concern, the 1020 should have quite a plus. The only reason why I decided to get my one was because of the 64 gig offer and a dirt cheap price on contract.

If you want the best camera, get the 1020. Keep in mind though that the 930 will most likely have a fast shot-to-shot time due to the better CPU and lesser processed pixels. This is quite a vital point for many people, since the best camera is useless if it just processing the last photo and you miss that special moment you wanted to capture.

If you don't need that new phone now and could wait a bit longer, I'd do that. Besides that the 1020 still offers a decent enough WP experience and you won't get a bad device at all. The 930 is just more cutting edge compared to the older models.

I will say 930 for better day to day usage than 1020, if camera is not a important factor for you. Believe me, opening apps on a snapdragon 800 is way much better than the old hardware of 1020. I'm also having a 1520 beside 1020, and I can 100% tell you that you will be frustrated by how much slower 1020 is when launching apps. I'm not sure how WP8.1 will improve 1020, but don't bet too much on it since the hardware of 1020 is way slower.

It depends how far you really value that camera. I would also feel like pointing out that while the 1020 can produce the best photos, it's not necessarily the most user friendly or convenient in achieving that. Shot-to-shot time counts more to many than the extra quality 1020 can produce. It's sort of like " a nice little point and shoot" vs. "DSLR". Most people don't need the DSLR and are tbh overwhelmed by it.

My fiancee just got a 1020 and while I know it's capabilities are far beyond my 920, there are already a few scenarios where I just got the better pics faster than she did.

Delay in opening apps on a 1020?? Not here, on 8.0. Compared to a 1520, app for app, maybe .75 versus a full second, or 1.5 versus two-three. I'd agree to not as fast, but this "old hardware" is in no way slow. Even Accuweather, with ads and data loaded, is ready to navigate in 3 seconds. Same with my nytimes, espn and other webpage tiles that involve launching IE and navigating to a site/page. Nothing I run is slow, per se. Then again, we all have our own frustration levels.

You may say 0.75 is nothing. But when you are receiving lots of incoming Whatsapp msg, this little delay will become very irritating. Every tap on the toast will results in slower launching of the app and then followed by the chats. It is not slow as in lag or whatsoever. But comparing to day to day operations on my other 1520, 1020 is just not considered as "fast" anymore. Another excellent example is Facebook messenger. Even turning off Wifi on 1020 is slower than the 1520.

I was thinking about this whole night :D

And I will go for 1020.
Yeah I know its not as fast as 930, but it has smaller size (wich very importatn to me, i dont like phablets, and my ideal phone is size like Iphone 5)... Even 920 is lareger then i like, so 930s size will be over my liking.
And if I get with 1020 better camera, smaller size, and for lower price, I will sacrifice faster HW and design (which i liked more then 920/1020) and Qi built-in charging.

But, i will go to some shop to hold 930 in my hands only for sure :D

So thanks to all of you. Great comunity.

PS: sorry for my bad english, hope you understands

I can understand chmun77s statement now, after comparing my 1020 to a 930 in the store, switching between apps is indeed faster. Taking pictures is faster too, I haven't measured any times but I think the 930 needs roughly 1/3, maybe even just a quarter the time to take a 5mp+19mp jpeg compared to the 1020 taking a 5mp+38mp jpeg. However for my own use, the overall camera quality is more important.

Also keep in mind the 1020 has a Xenon flash which really comes handy in low-light situation compared to the (even dual) LED lights.

I have to admit though Nokia created a very nice device with the 930, it really feels great in your hand. Not that the previous flagships didn't, but they simply again created a very good design there.

As much as I love my 1020, id go with the 930 between the 2. My suggest is to wait and confirm nothing else is coming out, but if you only want one of those...930 is my suggestion.

As i love to take pictures of things to hold on as memories, the quality of those pictures are extremely important. So for that I will hold on to 1020 as the picture quality, both daylight and low light are superior 😊

New the 1020 costs $600 and the 930 costs $800 not much difference really but personally I would go with the newer phone so the 930. Yes the camera isn't as good but its still better than most other camera phones on the market today plus its overall faster and cleaner.
But saying that if price is an issue you can get the 1020 second hand for about 1/2 price just take a look on ebay... http://m.ebay.com.au/itm/221497896033?nav=SEARCH
