[Lumia 521] How do I get notifications on WP 8.0?

Just got the Lumia521 with Win8.0 phone, switched from Android...and I'm not impressed at all so far. Nvm all the apps I can't get.

How do I get notifications for anyting besides Messaging? I mean like sounds alerts, I can see them if I actually go and turn on my phone to the lock screen but I cant seem to figure out how to a the sound/vibrate notifications!? I didn't even notice that the phone didn't have the 'alert light' that most Droid phones have which I didn't realize how much I used until getting the Windows Phone, but not being able to get an actual sound alert/notifications for all the apps would be grounds for me returning to Android tomorrow.

And also, while doing research on how I might get notifications I noticed everyone talking about a 'Action Center' which they normally pull down from that top bar. I never see that bar, I have to manually pull that down just to see battery/bars/wifi (which is annoying by itself) but I can't drag down the 'Action Center' like I see other users do?

I just bought this a few days ago and in Settings my phones says 8.0 and 'up to date'? Any word on the notification issues?

8,0 doesn't get notifications like an android would thats why they are releasing update 8.1 not everyone has it yet we are basically in a waiting room for an update so we can have that feature

Lol. So all the issues I just mentioned will be fixes with the 8.1 update? I guess that works.

Any date I can look forward to?
