I am going to get a Lumia 822 soon and I was wondering how is it holding up now? The phone itself is over a year old and I just wanted to know how is battery life and whatnot.

Go for it. Mine has always been great. Now on 8.1 it's better than ever. I've had it since it came out.

My 822 on 8.0 is working great too. I have a 64GB micro SD card about 2/3 full. I have always bought phones with replaceable batteries for extra life. I didn't initially buy the second battery for the 822 when the phone was released, thinking I would wait and see if I needed it. I still haven't purchased a 2nd battery.

When it became clear that I had to give up my Palm Pre, I looked hard at the options, and went with an Android phone for while, but finally returned it and got the 822 when it first came out.

After a year and a half, I'm still very happy with my 822. My wife and son both have iPhone5s's, and I like my phone better than theirs (I like the UI better, and I really like the charging stand),. I like the display; battery life hasn't been an issue (I have a 2d battery that I haven't used); it works well as a wireless access point; the extra memory is nice; the Here Drive + and Transit apps have worked well for me; etc.

Quibbles? I have to reset the phone maybe once a week or so (when I get a black screen that says, "Resuming"; I've learned that it doesn't work to wait that one out), but that only takes about a minute. I'm still on 8.0, so maybe 8.1 will solve that. There's one relatively obscure app that is available for iPhone and Android that I wish I could get for WP, but that's an issue with the OS, not the phone.

I'm determined to keep my 822 with 8.1 DP until the full update is available. After that I may consider a new phone.
When I get a new phone I would like it to come out of the box with
8.1.
Until then my 822 will do nicely.

Look, I've had my Lumia 822 since almost release day, and I haven't lost barely any battery. Initially I could go from 6am to 6pm the next day on one charge. Now its a little less than that, but its best to make sure you have full charge for the day you are using it, so I plug it in every night. It lasts me all day and I've never been happier. I guess since the screen isn't hd it gets better battery life? And regarding hardware: I've never felt lag anywhere on this phone. Never. It is really snappy and considering this isn't even the flagship phone, that is very impressive. I'd have to say, overall this phone is the greatest phone I could have purchased. Its never let me down. Removable battery and external memory. Why not?

I've been using my 822 for a year and a half and haven't had any problems with it. I'm on 8.0 at the moment until I decide to upgrade to 8.1. Overall the phone has been great to me and I haven't had any issues.

In Nov it'll be two years with it and still loving it! I'm running 8.0 and love the battery life. Never had a problem with it. Oh yeah, I forgot...Before I put a silicone case on mine, I dropped it quite a few times!

Love it! The 822 on Verizon is a solid phone, great screen, great battery life 12 hours + with preview 8.1. Go for it you won't be sorry. If your on Verizon the new windows phone out is the icon.

I've had two of these (one for me and one for my gf) since release date and they're holding up great. Hers initially had the freezing issue and we both had the duplicate media issues but those have been fixed. I recently upgraded to the Icon. She's perfectly happy and says it's solid (the Icon's too big for her little girly hands lol). These things are tanks literally and figuratively and have been dropped multiple times pretty solidly only to be picked up and make an immediate phone call, text, etc. I've been using mine as an MP3/media player and camera since upgrading. Micro SD is awesome for my 5000 plus favorite song playlist. Rocking the 8.1 preview on mine too.
