Lumia 830 now available on Telus!

Tx!

I highly recommend going the unlocked route or wait 1 month to see if the price will drop a little, unless you can upgrade to the new phone at $0 while keeping your current plan...

Also, my HTC 8X was badly cracked, and its tiny 8Gb always choking full - I was eager to change.

Looks like you were right to jump on the deal when you did.

Telus has now changed the "plans". You'll need a SharePlus plan + data. So, like Rogers, $80.00 per month min.

No thanks. Definitely not considering now.

Well, just because it launched today doesn't mean any stores actually have them in stock apparently. Best I got from one was "We ordered some today". So not for another week or so I guess.

You can buy it straight out for $399 at Rogers and then match it to a $55 plan. I'm betting you can get Telus to match that $399 price - I think they have a price matching policy, and then take the $55 plan with it...
To get the $0 + $55 deal, you need to be an existing customer.

That's the thing. When the phone was first listed on Telus yesterday, it was $0.00 with a $45.00 min monthly contract. That was open to any customer: new or old. Later in the day, they bumped it up to a required SharePlus Plan with a minimum $80.00 monthly outlay. It's as if they said, "Oh. We don't want to compete with Rogers on this, let's match them instead.". I think they had it right the first time. Sadly, with the way WP is treated here In Canada, the phones won't do well at these price points. Not at all.

If that's going to be the norm (Bell's looks to be a "Plus" device as well) then, hell yeah, I'm buying it unlocked elsewhere and sticking with prepaid.

Boom: just pulled the trigger on the Telus purchase at $0 + $55/month for 2 years.

It's drab black, but that $400 is much nicer in my pocket.

$400 will gets me loads of colored back covers. ;P

Got mine yesterday too and it sounds like we have the same plan too. Only thing I had to pay was for the nano sim. I couldn't find any of the other colour back plates or cases for the phone though.

Did you get yours online on in a store? Do you have your phone now?

The nano sim from Telus is a NFC sim: this may give us PayWave or equivalent, if not now hopefully sometime soon(tm).

I've seen the black and white back covers on eBay, around $25 - no green or orange yet. White on black should be nice.

I may even get *all* the colors, because, colors!

I called ahead and did the whole renewal thing on the phone, its better that way. Then asked them to call around, find me one and put it on hold for me to pick up. I have had it for a day now and am quite pleased with it. I had to buy a nano SIM, it was 12$. I found a black soft case at a different TELUS store today, im going to use it until I get a clear one, I saw some on amazon for less than 10$. I eventually want to get a green and/or white back shell and the fat boy wireless charging pillow too.

Nice, I should've tried that, but I had little faith they could actually locate inventory...

I just got the Telus Lumia 830. But want to know if it is RM 984 OR RM 985? How to check this?? By the way this device is awesome than my Lumia 720 that I use. Just ordered a yellow back case to keep my phone safe from Ebay Canada for about $5.

Settings-> extras+info(very bottom) should be under manufacturer name

What's Ebay Canada gonna do to your phone?😜

What plan did you have?
Did you need to upgrade your plan to get the phone at $0 ?

Telus just crapped out on me: the phone was due to be delivered tomorrow, but Telus called today and said I had to upgrade my plan to $70, that it wasn't possible to get the Lumia 830 for $0 on the $55 plan. Screw them for offering the possibility on their web store.

I said no to that, and they couldn't make any counter offer, nothing!, so goodbye Telus. The phone will be 'returned to sender'.

I was walking to the Rogers store, ready to shell that 400, but lo and behold, I came upon the Fido kiosk - and that REALLY made my day : I got a green Lumia 830 - with an extra black cover, from Fido, on a $55/month Smart Plan for 2y, and paid $80 for the phone.

Yep, $80. Not $500 like Telus. Not $400 like Rogers. $80. Win!

And the Fido plan is the same as the $55 Telus/Rogers plans, except its unlimited Canada wide, instead of only Quebec wide... Win!

And I got the color I actually wanted.

Win, win, win.

That's exactly what I stated a few posts back. Half-way through launch day they "corrected" the offer online from $45 minimum to the SharePlus plan.

That said, I would have had a good fight with them over that had I been in your situation. They should have honoured it. Period.

As I'm a Telus customer, I'm disappointed to read this...but not overly surprised.

The only plans I could choose in the web store where already $70+, but I also had the option "Keep my existing plan". Seems they had forgotten to plug that hole.

I was absolutely brutal with the first Telus sales rep that called me - he may still be weeping and require therapy after that one. I called them back later, but they were unwilling to negotiate, much less honor their previous agreement. Fine by me, I can take my money elsewhere - and I did.

I agree they should have honored the first deal they gave me, but I wasn't inclined to wage a war with Telus over this; I have been down this path before and won last time, but the process is tedious and I had to resort to the Commissioner for Complaints for Telecommunications Services (CCTS) (CCTS ? CPRST | Commissioner for Complaints for Telecommunications Services).

I just got this phone on Tuesday. $0, 2 year term, $70/month spend, was already spending that much with my current data plan and warranty protection so no big deal. This phone is pretty sweet. Waiting for a good flip cover case with the Qi charging in it and some different back covers. White and Green would be sweet.

I'm in the states and bought an unlocked unused sealed in box 830 on Ebay.for $340. best offer price.
The phone has no branding but was told it was from Telus.
I'm wondering how and where Canadians can get warranty work done if there is an issue.
When I check on Nokia US it says not in Warranty in US but is in warranty when I check Nokia Canada. thx
