Lumia 920 increased battery drain after 6 months

Hello.
First of all, please excuse any mistakes in this post, I am not a native english speaker.
I found many questions about battery drain for Lumia here, but most of them were about stuck process or background tasks.
I've encountered a bit different problem now. I have Lumia for 6 months now and for that time battery duration was between 3-6 days while phone was not in "active" use - I mean using phone only to read messages, short calls and quick reading of weather forecast. (Of course when I played games or used any other battery consuming apps, batetry duration was much more shorter).
This changed this weak rapidly. I have to mention that Store app displayed updates for about 15 of my 20 installed apps, that never happened before. I do not know, if this is the problem, but since then, my battery is discharging at rate about 5+ % per hour, so it lasts barely a day without using any apps.
I tried all suggestions I've found, as disabling all background tasks, disabling wifi, location services, bluetooth etc, shutdown, soft reset, but nothing helped.

Have anyone encountered such a weird behaviour recently, or is this only my problem?
Any suggestions and advices would be appreciated, I am not comfortable with hard reset at the moment, but I can see any options left now.
Thanks in advance
Jirka

ermm have you tried a soft reset? and also check your background tasks? (settings then swipe left)

I've had weird battery once. I switched the phone off, then plugged in the charger (with phone still off). The phone automatically turned itself on, and I left it to fully charge. Cured it for me.

Thanks for your reply, but it didn't help me. I charged phone 3 times since then, always let the phone to shutdown itself, then I plugged charger and let it fully charge. After unplugging, same problem occured.

3 to 6 days is spectacular...3 days (72 hours) is just over 1% per hour. That is just NUTS!

If you were noticing something well higher than 5%, I'd worry. But day in and day out mine is 3-4% with occasional usage, 10% with heavy usage. I'd have to go into airplane mode to get close to 1%.

As for the stacking up of updates...your phone only checks for updates once a day. if you do not have a connection at the time it check, it will just save it for the next 24 hours later. So if you never have a connection at that time of day, they could potentially stack up quite a bit.

Thanks for your response.
Well, I'm not making jokes. I have lost history of my battery in my phone during re-installing some apps including battery monitoring app, but longest battery duration was 8 days, average 5 days.
I have backup of measured values from that app as plain txt file at One Drive. After picking e.g. values from February, putting it into OpenOffice and making a graph, it looks like this:

As you can see, I charged battery 5 times per month, it makes average of bit less than 6 days duration.
So this is why I am nervous, dropping from 5 days of duration to 1 day of duration.

Me reading your graph.

I want to go to there!

Sorry, I am not going to help much. You had a super human phone that just returned to normal, haha. Have you ever watched the movie Rookie Of The Year? It is like the same plot as to what we have here.

Haha, for most of us who have been battery issues, to read your case is quite weird. One day batt duration is some kind of normal behavior...

If you updated those 15 apps and after that batt issue appears, I would try uninstalling those apps, one by one, in order to see if may be there is your batt sucker.

Battery monitoring app can also drain battery...plus its useless. You can see in settings the last time you charges, bo need for app

Thanks for your response.

@ Chris_Germany - there is no difference in battery drain with and without battery monitoring app (at least not significant difference), I tried to uninstall battery app and "monitor" battery duration manually.
@ Erick Rmz - the problem is, I do not know which ones were updated - I used "update all" button :) Next weekend I'm going to perform hard reset - I'll see if problem was app update, or as Curtieson mentioned, my battery only returned to "normal" :)

First off. Really? I have to sit through a commercial to get the security phrase to sign up for this site? WTF is that all about? Now that I have that off my chest. I wanted to say that I've had similar issues with my 920. The phone was getting VERY warm at the top, and was constantly 'dinging' me that it was discharging rapidly (even when it was just sitting there doing nothing). It would go through a full charge in 4-5 hours, and I had turned everything off, including all background tasks...EVERYTHING. I just found out that if you're using an inductive charger, the phone sometimes goes into a "searching" state in which it tries to find the charger, even when not in use. The solution is to simply turn the phone off, then when you restart it, the phone resets. I just tried this last night (the phone was showing a 5-7% discharge per hour all day yesterday), and now the phone has only used 2% charge in 7 hours. So now I no longer use my inductive charger. Hope this helps, if so, pass it along.

Hi again.
To close my case - problem was apparently caused by one of those app updates. After phone hard reset battery usage returned back to "my normal". I used phone to calls, reading messages, reading e-mails, web browsing, short music listening and last three days battery usage looks like this:

wp_ss_20140424_0001.png

For those, who cannot read Czech:
Odhadovan? zb?vaj?c? čas = Estimated remaining time
Doba od posledn?ho nab?jen? = Elapsed time from last battery charging

So to sumarize - only solution, that worked for me was hard phone reset.

Thanks for your time and suggestions.

Have you figured out which app it was yet? Install them one by one, waiting a couple of days to figure it out. Then make sure you also shoot a message to the Dev and try to explain what you think might be wrong with his app.

Great to hear it is all back to super human strength :) I really wish I could get 3-4 days out of mine, but that'd mean I'd have to put it down, sooooo...

Most of us are so envy of your super battery, 3 days is a holy grial... Hehe. Congrats for having such miracle phone.

No, I haven't. I made backup of app list using Microsoft account, after hard reset I downloaded apps again ("clean install") and problem was gone. So I don't know which one partial update was broken, but I have no way to find out now.
