just curious how answers such as these are helpful to the original question?

I had the same issue. In order to fix it i purchased new microphones from Ebay and i replaced them. the price for these parts is very low comparing with the price you have to pay for a new phone. The replacement procedure you can find on youtube (ex.: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cKd8tCAH-eY ).
