Hello. i m new here . i just want know that will L920 get wp9 ? . or should i sell the phone when i have time ... i don't want to face the same scenario Like old WP7 users . ? coz i read in some site that wp8 will not get update ... please some one who have good info reply . coz when i was buying L920 so many people told me that this will get wp9 update . !

If 8.1 is going to be released in 2014, WP9 has at least 1 more year to come out you can use your 920 with 8.1 until then

It will get WP 8.1 sometime early next year. Nobody knows anything about WP9 and it won't release anytime next year.

MS confirmed the WP9 at least as last update.. but god knows when it is released..1-2yrs... It's still developing and according to my info there is no alpha version yet....

There is no wp9. That's like asking if the galaxy s4 will run android 7.4.
The next update is wp8.1. We might get 9 other updates before wp9 hits. Its a non issue.

If you don't like the idea of not getting an update that doesn't exist yet and probably wont exist for another 2 years minimum then sell your 920. No idea what your gonna use as a phone though if you expect unicorn updates.

MS has said that WP devices will be supported for like three years. The L920 was released a year ago, so use and enjoy. You have until 2015 until there are worries.

Well i think you should keep your phone,as other people said they will first release the WP8.1 which im sure it will be supported by all devices with WP8,till WP9,4-7 updates will be released for WP8.1(that's a lot of time),and L920 is a really good phone even though it got released last year,i wouldn't consider it as "old".
I hope the will release WP8.1 for my L520 too, luckily or unluckily first they will try it on high end devices like L1520,L1020 etc..

Google only supports a maximum of 18 months of updates, and the last nexus wont get the new android.

Hows microsofts update system looking now?

Better, but MS still needs to show people they mean it. I believe them, but when every WP8 gets 8.1, and then the next set of firmwear updates that always come with a major update like that, then MS should be leaving Android behind and giggling as they go.

Didn't they announce EOL on WP8 as 2016 last week? I'm sure the plans for WP9 have slipped somewhat, as they seemed to mention 8 would become EOL in 2014 previously. Either way, the also said all WP8 handsets would be updated to WP9 quite some time ago, that doesn't mean you will get all features etc, hardware specs will be changed. But the current range of phones, one would think, would at least be moved on to the next update, in a similar fashion to the iOS updates for older handsets.

As above though, WP9 is so far away, it's really not worth worrying about. I still use my 710 (have a 620 and now a 920 as well) and it does just fine (came in handy when I smashed my 620 screen, used it for 3 weeks, tbh, it does everything I want, so people who say WP7 is dead are so wrong. Some of the apps I had to change to others because they no longer worked, or were supported, but I didn't have any major issues.

Wrong. The Nexus 4 will get it. The Galaxy Nexus won't. That seems to be because Texas Instruments went out of the smartphone chip business.

The problem with Microsoft's updates is that so far they haven't been very spectacular. Plus with how far behind they are, even if iOS & Android didn't update at all, it would take a few Microsoft updates for them to catch up!

Well the three that have been released aren't supposed to be spectacular. The next is.

The article you read was a completely false lie trying to ruin Microsoft. ALL Windows Phone 8 phones will get ALL updates for at least the next 2 years!

The 520 will also get 8.1 and Microsoft has an announcement to make about future updates and operators will no longer be able to stop any device updating.
