Lumia 925 De-branding

Updates don't have anything to do with the sim that is in the phone. if you have an unbranded rom then you will get unbranded update and if you have an EE rom installed you will get EE update! If you have an unbranded phone and an EE sim the update will not change your handset to EE.

oh okay , so i will still get the update if I have an unbranded phone with any sim card in ?

That's correct. Just remember that there are no guarantees when flashing your phone, I have changed my lumia 920 several times with no problems and have always received the correct updated etc. but there is always an element of risk!

Hi,

I've got the 32GB Vodafone version, unlocked by them. I've downloaded two sets of firmware. GB CV BLACK 059S916 and the Voda 32GB just in case.

What I want to know is that the simlock files in the firmware won't relock the phone?

GB CV BLACK has simlock_3gstandard_bb5 file
VODA has NWP_Vodafone_UK_wp8_simlock file.

Any input before flashing greatly appreciated!

Use the old cracked Version to download, the new that supports the 925 in offline mode to Flash. Thats the trick.

ps

Hi Guys !

I've just bought a lumia 925 32 GB ( branded vodafone)
I'd like to know if I can de-brand it with a french Rom(059T0B2 RM-892 VAR EURO FR CV BLACK), ( I'm french ) :winktongue:
Will it affect the phone, to go from a uk rom to a french one ?
Will I keep the 32 gb storage ??

Thanks a lot and sorry for my poor english

Hi there!

Yes, you can debrand it with a 16GB version. I did it myself with a 32GB Vodafone one.

Cheers!

I have got the Vodafone 32gb version, but for me the update to Amber is still not available. Is there a workaround available to get the software on my device? I have tried it myself with the Care suite, but apparently you have to be a registered user. So that is no possibility for me at this moment. is there anyone who knows how to solve this? I have read multiple Forums but cannot find any workable solution.

I just purchased a Vodafone Romania 32gb 925 while on vacation here, the phone is not locked to the carrier and you can flash with ease any rom regardless if is 16 or 32gb rom, I have tested several roms already, so debranding the phone is very easy.

Are you sure you are on a 925 and not a 920? All 925s when released came with GDR2+Amber preloaded so not sure how you're still on pre-GDR2?

will debranding the US tmobile device enabled tethering even without the hotspot feature?
