My lumia 930 cannot connect/detect my wifi 5Ghz band. It connects to the 2.4Ghz without issue. Suggestions?

Modem is TP-Link TD-W8980 dual band wireless router.

Interesting, I have a L930 and it is able to detect 5Ghz just fine (Home Hub 4).

Try downloading the Wifi Tool / Wifi Analyser see if that works.

I have had a few issues with TP-Link and Tenda products being that they just crapped out for no apparent reason. If you can try a different router, see if the L930 detects the 5Ghz band on that.

Lastly try different channels.

My 925 does that periodically with my Draytek router, usually a reboot of the router fixes it though. Probably the router in my case as it disappears from my laptop at times as well.

That usually occurs if you make changes via WiFi not ethernet :).

I just reset my phone. It was updated to the latest version.

Even after reset it to ? 10.0.10586.107 still no wifi 5 Ghz. ( I planned to reset it to factory settings)

The latest build is .318 on the 10586 branch, try updating to that see if that helps.

I also have a Lumia 930 and 1520, both on build 10.0.10586.420. Both cannot see 5Ghz SSIDs from multiple WAPs while in flight mode. The 2.4Ghz SSID is detected OK in flight mode. Check your flight mode is off and try again. Who knows why 2.4 vs 5.0 behave differently in these Lumias ? Bug or deliberate design ?
