Lumia 930, sync calendar, contacts and tasks (outlook) to your laptop ?

I want to sync the Outlook data (Contacts, Calendar, Tasks) on my two laptops with my phone. I read somewhere that this could only be done via 'cloud' with the Lumia 930. Is this true? can I not just connect via USB and sync, like I do with my Blackberry? I don't want to have to go via the internet.
And, If I set the clock alarm, turn the phone off will the phone turn on automatically when the alarm goes off?
Anyone notice any other differences between blackberry bold and this phone?
