Lumia 950 getting warm several times a day

Just recently, been noticing that my Lumia 950 is getting warm. There's no reason for it - sometimes it just gets hot when I'm not even using it. Edge on background disabled. I'm on 10.0.14393.448

Do I need to do a hard reset? (I hope not)

you could try a soft reset and see if that helps. to do that hold together volume down + power key until phone reboots.

also tell is the battery getting hot or the upper portion of the device near/around the camera.

Soft reset is always recommended. What does your battery usage statistics say? Maybe there's another app which consumes battery in the background
