mail app doesn't run in the background

updated and now have background settings for calendar and people, nothing for mail. Mail is not working as it should. Does not sync, but I get notifications. Trying a reboot now.

I was excited to see the update for the mail app today, but much to my dismay, it did not fix the problem for me either.

I can send mail through the app, just tested that, but can't sync, or see it listed in any background settings.

I was able to sync it as well... has to do with the calendar being turned on in the privacy settings.

That's been turned on all along for me. My problem is if I read or delete and email it does not sync across other devices automatically.

Well it does make sense that it wouldn't delete in other devices because there is no background traffic going on... can only download mail.

I'm having the same issue with Mail and One Note. And neither of them are updating in the Store, either. They're both *stuck*, along with a handful of other apps trying to update.

I have been able to delete mail and it sync with other devices, but I had to manually click on the sync first. Just deleting it and closing the mail app will not remove it unless a sync is done first. Hope that works for you too.

Mary Jo Foley reported this morning that a fix was coming within 24-48 hours. per MS. I'm guessing it will be in today's patch.

The fix will come via WU.
