I am to the point now that I don't even bother looking at items with a mail in rebates. I've wasted too much time too many time trying to chase down mail in rebates.
My last mail in rebate was for $30 when I purchased an AT&T DSL modem. All AT&T does is tell you they aren't handling it and give you a number to call that no one answers or you leave a message and no one calls you back.
A friend of mine bought a Toshiba laptop with a rebate. After he sent everything in, he called the rebate company after about 6 weeks and they told him they never got his rebate information. He sent it in again. They sent him a letter back saying the rebate expired.
I am at the point now that I think most mail in rebates are totally bogus.
