Make your bets, new high end Lumia coming the end of this year?

Joe B. will be at this conference, so there will definitely be unveiled some WP info, not necessarily new phones/firmware.

I'd like to upgrade from my 1020, but I'm waiting for an official Windows 10 device. Especially because the UI will probably have a significant change like the on screen windows button, etc. (charms bar?).

Don't all phones support the ability to use a animation case (like dot view)? I have a 930 and not bothered about glance as I came from the 8x but I would be on a case like this should they bring one out! Perfect replacement for glance!

Nope, the dot view case is exclusive to the ONE M8, I haven't seen a single smart case for the 930 as of today, which sucks, also, the 930 is so thick that I doubt I'd use it with a case.

I don't think the next version of windows phone based on windows 10 will be much different, most of the new stuff they showed off was for the desktop users, the modern UI is practically unchanged...

I'm hoping you're correct Silviu Bogusevschi... Please be correct. And if you are, also predict the Lumia 830 for 275-299 USD and the 1020 Successor to be 500-650 off contract (and worth it).

That would be an aggressive price point for the 830 but I highly doubt the 1020's successor will be unveiled this year, I believe that instead of re-using the 808 sensor and tech again, they are engineering a new sensor and working on the speed of the camera, you know, the biggest problem of the 1020.

I use the official case for it and as far as i know if no thicker than the m8. I'm aware that there isn't a "smart case" but one of the updates have all wp's the ability to use them I thought so why haven't they got on the band wagon?

Highly dubious that a high end Lumia will come out by years end. I think the HTC One for Windows will be the only high end offering. If they do, it'll be completely unexpected and flew under the radar for all this time without so much as a hint of its release.

And if you listened to the presentation and news, you'd know that the consumer/touch changes and features will be announced in early 2015.

The Windows 10 preview that was just released and discussed recently was a very early build and solely focused on pleasing the enterprise customers. Which is why they included "Enterprise" in the title of the presentation.

Why is it so fvcking hard for people to understand this? MS should just keep everything locked up until final release. Its clear no one understands how to interpret these early previews.

With w10 announced and ms trying to replace Nokia branding with there own I'd think they have too much on their plate for a 2014 flagship.. However a 1030 running denim for the holiday season would be a great marketing campaign IF they actually organised a world wide debut. (like I phone do)

I would actually love to see a 5" in a 925 casing. Snapdragon 801 with the 20MP camera would be fine. I mean, I love my 1020, a 1030 would be sweet. I doubt that is anywhere near release though.

Not that I think we'll see anything by the holiday...

Quote from the article - Tuula Rytil?, Microsoft's SVP of Marketing for Phones, says the company is looking to unveil its first own-brand Lumia phone "soon."

I don't think we will see any new launches by the end of his year, in the US. With the exception of the 830 & 730. I may just sit on my 928 until the win 10 devices come out. I always seem to be opposite a launch when it comes to my upgrade time.

Flagships are not something microsoft want to invest heavily in , they are targetting low end market as per their earnings call .

Not one single high end phone will be coming out by the end of the year. Not from Microsoft.

Unless you interpret "soon" as sometime late Q1 2015 to Q2 2015, there is no way this is a new phone.

Most likely a re-branded phone that has already been announced, like the 830.

Nokia Lumia 830 --> Microsoft Lumia 830.

Rumors have always preceded the launch of any new WP handset. We have heard nothing. Not even a single crazy rumor that has had to be debunked.

At this point, I would be thrilled to see one of those questionable, grainy, poorly shot photos from an overseas manufacturing plant purporting to be the faceplate of some new and upcoming Lumia device.

Until you start seeing/hearing any of that, I would guess that we are at least 4-6 months out for the release of any new device.
