Bummer. I think that's what happened. The out of stock started showing up on their site shortly after my call was made. But, hey its a toy after all and your life doesn't end without it.

I know. That isn't what bugs me, its the $400 dollars of mine they have. I don't mind if they were at least honest about things, nothing they have said has been true.

Cancelled all my online pre-orders. Walked in to MS in Toronto and picked one up. Also got free swag! MS Water Bottle and BackPack!

Set up was flawless. All set up on Android.

How well does the band work with Android? I am going to be using the band with Android phone (Nexus 6P). I think most of the stuff works except cortana and the keyboard with android?

Works great thus far. I'm using an edge +. A few things to note:

1. No cortana. But since cortana is coming to android, I imagine it will only be a matter of time.

2. Keyboard for replying to texts. Yes! This is new on the band 2. Works great and just like on a windows ohone.

3. Email: You will only be able to see your email headers and not read the first few sentences of the message, which you can do on WP. Also, with the way the notification system works on Android, you will have to clear the email notices on your phone or the band will display "x new messages" with every email you get.

Doesn't impair the functionality. Just annoying.

4. Lack of third party apps. Obviously not as many as on WP. But android is much further ahead than ios. I wish fanband was on Android.

Went to BestBuy yesterday, they had five in transit. Couldn't put any on hold, but the guy said he would phone me if they came in on his shift.
Decided to go to the local Staples, they had none but said a close store had two (medium). I asked if they would call and put one on hold for me, they did, so I drove out and got one.. Great service from Staples.

I am liking the band 2 quite a bit, tracked my run this morning quite well (although it shows me running on water a little).

It sucks that the Microsoft store is completely and utterly useless in Canada.. Was considering a lumia 950xl, but as it is only going to be sold through the microsoft store in Canada, think I'll buy a Samsung instead.

my pre order from BestBuy Canada has been officially pushed the release date to Nov 27, a week later. I think the issue for ms store online, is they are not really separated from the us one, so they first messed up the logistics of US and Canada orders, due to different release date. And then they don't really have its own customer service only for Canadian issues. So you could say we got secondary treatment compared to us one. But my previous orders from them are all pretty good, fast shipment (even though they are all shipped from the states) and fast exchanging/return without having to talk to anyone. One of the benefit of no real person want to deal with us, so just do from the machine automatically.
Anyway I checked the stock on staples.ca for local store before I went any, got myself a medium one, but might have to exchange for a small one, but looks like the store aroundd me don't hase small ones. So wait for the BestBuy orderr go thru add decide what to do next.
And just FYI, if you are not a starbucks person, the starbucks tile can unofficially used for tim hortons timmy card too.

To summarise, here's my timeline:

To recap.

Oct 22nd : I order. Delivery on Nov 20th.
Oct 26th : They charge me and ship.
Nov 2 : Supposed delivery date. Comes and goes. I wait at home.
Nov 3 : New delivery date. Comes and goes.
Nov 4 : New delivery date. Doesnt show up of course.
I give up. Fedex tracking says it hasn't left China.
Nov 12 : They email me asking me to cancel my order and reorder again (and say it will be here on the 20th). Reluctantly I agree.
Nov 12 : Once I order, the package starts moving again. Reaches Winnipeg.
Nov 13 : It just sits there for a week. FedEx says they were instructed to only deliver on the 20th. Fine. I'll wait.
Nov 19 : It still hasn't moved and is unlikely to get here on the 20th. They say the package in Winnipeg is not a real package. I haven't received any other tracking numbers.

Today : Product is launched here and stores, best buy and pretty much everywhere else has it. All except people who ordered a month before.

I feel cheated somehow. I admin a group of about 600 hikers. Thought this would be great to map hikes, post them and share and compare stats with others. Now I feel like telling everyone to just get a fitbit.



I have a similar timeline, preordered the evening when preorders got online, was super excited when it was supposedly shipped but no, it was a fedex shipment to someone in the United States, guess they messed up order numbers but charged me nevertheless.

Got a refund and had to order it again, which got pushed to the 20th (website said 3rd of December all the time) and actually arrived on the 20th.

Even though I had to spend well over an hour explaining customer service several times their error I got what I wanted at the date I expected to get it. I would have preferred to get the thing on the surprise date, but I guess the french language packaging was not done by then... I just hope that my preorder of the 950 will arrive the day after tomorrow :)

The steps that you should take to resolve the situation are simple; (this is the legally appropriate way too)

1) Phone your bank (credit card company) and contest the charge. Provide as much detail as possible to them, and ask/suggest that you send a email with the details. Within a few days the bank will reverse the charge and refund your money.
2) (Because you are nice, and not because you have to) Email MS Customer support with your order number, bank (credit card company) reference number (not your card number) and tell them that you have disputed the charge. MS Customer support doesn't provide email addresses on their website, but cs3st.gnrl.ww.00.en.sut.pam.cs.t01.spt.sg.pi@css.one.microsoft.com will work.

All sales/purchases done from within Canada are governed under Canadian law, and credit card / bank subscriber agreements. The situation which you described is in breach of those, and the procedure in #1 is/was set out for this specific type of situation.

Note: If MS can "prove" that you received the band 2, the credit card company / bank will re-apply the charge.

Well glad you received yours.

I'm still waiting. I emailed their customer service (and spammed their twitter feed) until they had someone DM me and took all the information. It got escalated to someone and they said they would let me know tomorrow.

I'm just fedup of not knowing. Not one person has called or emailed me since last week (other than the escalated service guy), and they have been so unprofessional about it.

Oh well, as ckabas said above, its just a toy and not worth the headache. I have a commitment for someone to call me tomorrow and lets see if they keep their word.

The sender of the package you were expecting uses a FedEx service where they will consolidate
several shipments destined to their customers in Canada. Following customs clearance
at one specific FedEx port of entry in Canada, the packages are distributed throughout the country for final
delivery by FedEx.

Per Microsoft's request the packages included in this particular shipment were returned to the
company in the USA on November 16. We recommend contacting Microsoft for additional
information on the delivery you were expecting.

Ok. So I was talking to Customer Service, and my second order got cancelled too. I'm not sure what the problem is, so can't really say if its a technical issue or if its because the MS Store is setup a certain way.

HOWEVER, I did speak to customer service, and after getting off the phone with them I have to say, that what tangledW said was true. They really worked hard to keep me as a customer. Called and gave me daily updates, kept me in the loop and have worked to ensure that I receive my order.

The customer support/service I've received over the last few years from Microsoft is probably the best I've gotten anywhere.

So for the moment I think I finally am talking to someone who's really trying to keep my order, so I'll give them a bit of leeway. I'm not even mad anymore because the guy I'm talking to seems like he genuinely wants to help.

Interesting thing is, I did look at alternative products (I've had a month to do so), and the thing that bummed me out the most was that this was exactly what I wanted, nothing else out there had the combination of features that the Band 2 has. My hiking friends (who picked theirs up on opening day) are very impressed and from checking it out, nothing really compares to it.

I wish I could tell you what exactly is wrong with the MS store online. Since most of you have got your orders I guess mine might just be bad luck.

What a evening! All I can gather is that MS employs some of the worst people around in the sales department.

This evening I received an email asking me to update my payment information for the canceled order. The order that they emailed me about after they canceled it on me, and asked if I still wanted it (and I replied no).

I called MS, again wasting my time, and talked to a front line minion who kept telling me that he couldn't cancel a: in-process, un-billed, un-shipped order. Seriously. He tried to convince me to update my information and refuse the order when it arrives, and that is the best that could be done. I had to argue with him to get a supervisor. After finally getting to a supervisor, he agreed to request the order to be manually canceled and agreed to send a email to that effect. I thanked him, but refused to accept his apology on behalf of MS who really have gone the extra mile to kill any like I had for them before.

Never is too soon for me to have to deal with them again.
