Microsoft surface blade

It seems like this idea has been completely dropped and I am confused to the reason why. I was so waiting for an alarm clock blade that also doubled as a qi charger for my Lumia and then hopefully (but sadly not) my new Microsoft band. Does anyone know why Microsoft seemed to go away from this concept?

I think a lot can be done with covers, or maybe a dock!
