Missing option after Update 3 install

Firstly apologies if this old news but i needed to verify some details before I posted this. I have noticed that after i installed the black update on my 1020, it removed one the options in the " phone update" settings. The option in question is the one that tells the device to automatically notify the user when an update is available. Now i have never personally had this work for me but its still strange why is been removed.

Could a more efficient replacement be arriving in 8.1?

I'm not sure about the Black update as it's not available for my phone yet but, I am running the Developer Preview and they removed it from there as well. Seems after going above Amber this option is gone.

GDR3 removes it, not sure why though but I would assume it's because it notifies you of updates anyway as it was ticked by default.
