When I tried this download and tried to open the program it give me a error message entry point can not be found.

Once I unistalled and then reinstalled the new link it works fine now.

The viewer says it's 172. But the page still indicates 163 is the latest. Is the page wrong or is the only change in the viewer the drop dead date?

The page still says 163 at the top as that's still the latest version for the phone driver and Mobile Companion firmware. The new build of the beta is 172, that's correct.

Besides fixing the drop dead date (April 30) there is now a new "Network" option in Tools>Options. However, this feature doesn't work with all phones yet so we didn't really want to put up a change log or talk much about it yet.

On some phones, you can use that new setting to force the phone to use it's own network connection vs. the Microsoft Active Sync default (which is to force the phone to use the host PC's network connection when connected to the PC for anything other than phone calls or SMS).
