I see everyone on the mod team is using something other than WP. I take it we agree, WP lacks so much that we need something else to fulfil our desires? I have been thinking of getting a Nexus 5, since its well so cheap and so kitkat. However, something inside me doesn't really want Google but then I know there have been reasons I felt like I needed to fill some gaps.

What are the reasons you folks use Android for?

I could be wrong but I think Cori means Surface 2, not SGS2.

Erm that blanket statement is wrong, I use my 920 as my main phone, it's the best phone I've ever owned. I don't find WP lacking for my own needs at all!

I prefer unbranded, unlocked phones. If worse comes to worse, it at least has to be unlocked since I am in France a couple of times every year. Last Spring I was planning on getting an AT&T Lumia 920, but I discovered AT&T wasn't giving out unlock codes for 6 months, so I wouldn't be able to get it unlocked before going overseas this Spring.

I still have an unbranded, unlocked HTC 7 Trophy, which is my work phone and an unbranded, unlocked Nexus 4 as my personal phone. I do prefer the Windows OS over Android, plus the cameras on the Nokia phones are so much better than any other manufacturer

I do have a Nexus 5 coming today to replace my Nexus 4. :grin:

I am on fence about Nexus 5 - purely because communication the main thing about WP is feeling way too weak even after 3 years. Since 2010, I've been waiting to find communication suits get better but honestly other than text and email - in the UK, notifications are lame and slow or buggy mostly.

I only realized this when my cousin's HTC Sensation XL was performing far better with FB and Whatsapp notification and don't get me started on BBM! - That's when I realized, I've been missing out on that "instant" messaging stuff for a long time. Then thought may be Nexus 5 will be my phone of choice for communicating and WP just for the time when I need decent photos or a fresh UI. Although I tend to disagree with most posters who bash WP, I do feel that the wait for WP8.1 and anticipation that "it may get better" is killing me.

So, the million dollar question is Palandri - why do you have Nexus 5? Same or similar reasons? I do want to know what I will actually get by getting an Android. Haven't used it since ?clair days.

I don't have the Nexus 5 yet; it's being delivered today.

Like I said, I prefer unbranded and unlocked phones. When I was with Palm, it was always easy to get unbranded and unlocked phones, then when I went over to Nokia Symbian, it was always easy to get unbranded and unlocked phones. This even extends to laptops. When I bought my Samsung laptop, I got so sick of Samsung crap popping up, I bought a $99 OEM DVD of Windows and reformatted the hard drive to get rid of all the preloaded Samsung branded crap.

Don't expect less problems with Android. You'll see similar problems over at Android Central, i.e., "hey, I only get twitter notifications for ads, not messages, this is flucked up!", "I can't get online with Facebook. People can see me, but I can't see them", " I reloaded Whatsapp and it tells me, missing codex", "When is Verizon going to get the 4.0 Droid update out? It's been out now for 3 months. I am going to call Verizon and tell them I am not paying another bill until they get their **** together", " I am going back to iPhone", and on and on.....

Nope, only WP for me. It lacks nothing for me. I will never own another android. The number of mods and ambassadors using android leave me shaking my head.

Android sucks it really really sucks bad. The Note 3 was a horrible 3 week experience for me. I want to know what the competition is up to so I try new things. Trust me nobody using WP is missing anything..

I was on Sprint at the time and they weren't getting WP7 for another 6 months. I had an Instinct and had to get off of that thing. So being impatient I got an Evo. By the time I switched to ATT and got the 920 last year the Evo was practically unusable. I'd go to open an app and would get a white screen with green HTC pop up. And the 4G and wifi would turn on and off at will all day. Once I saw Sprint wasn't getting WP8 for a while and my contract was up, I bailed after 14 years. I know people bash ATT but the service has been great so far and my 920 is easily the best phone I've had.
