Moving over to Android and coming back from Android: How did it feel like

I got my sister to buy Lumia 640 Xl 2 weeks ago (she previously using Samsung galaxy)...

Now, she have no more complaint about lag issues of her phone..
She is a fairly light-weight user, little to virtually no gaming.. According to her, she is able to get the phone to last about 2 day with battery saver on, Data connection on, and some social apps left as background tasks.
So far the only thing she dislike is missing "medical dictionary" apps

She is happy to as people are curious about the bright Cyan phone

I was/am an Android/Google guy, I have an Asus Android tablet and was using an HTC One Google Edition phone for a couple of years. It was my first smartphone, so I didn't know any better, I thought the poor integration of features and constant lockups/freezes were part of the experience.

I went from Android 4.2 to 4.4 to 5.0 and things got much worse. Then one day the phone locked up for good. I needed a phone in a hurry so dug out an old Nokia 520 my wife had, popped in the SIM and I was in business.

I discovered how integrated the Windows phone environment is and how stable. Way more stable compared to Android.

I used the 520 for about 6 months then one day a couple of weeks ago decided to send the HTC One back to see if they could repair it. $90.00 later and a few days it was returned. I re-installed all the apps (nothing as easy as switching Windows phones I can tell you) and installed Android 5.1, which seems a world different from 5.0.

But, after a couple of days, I realized once and for all I did not like Android. It just seems too "wild west", with little integration between apps. For me, there's almost too much choice. I discovered I was spending way more time messing with the infinite number of settings rather than just using the thing.

So I ordered a Lumia 640 from one of the gray market guys, got it set up an running in no time at all and I'm liking it more and more.

The only thing I'm not crazy about is all the wasted black space on the screen. I calculated it at 32% waste; i.e., black space that isn't used for the display. You don't see this figure in phone reviews but to me, it's important. No sense making a big phone if 30% of the screen is wasted.

They could have used at least the top and bottom space for speakers, because the speaker is pretty lame on the 640.

Otherwise, loving the experience and it's fun to show people a Windows phone, many people I run into have actually never seen one but they seem interested once I give them a quick tour. Maybe Microsoft needs to do a better job articulating the benefits.

I jumped from windows 8.1 on a lumia 925 to android, partly because I had never owned an android device. I'd been with windows since 7 and I thought it was time to check out the competition.

I always heard the term lagdroid and I was concerned about how my experience would pan out. Honestly my Nexus 5 is a cracking phone. No lag whatsoever and features like the app drawers are superb.

I love the windows OS and I was hoping to return with WM10 (and a flagship phone) but the app gap is huge. All apps are way better on android. Hopefully this gets resolved by MS and then I will definitely be returning in the future.

Fingers crossed for WM10.

I also miss Cortana

I've never used a nexus 5, but I know the Nexus 5 is often been regarded as being smoother than other androids due to the fact that it runs stock android.
