My Nokia Lumia 625 smartphone screen is frozen. How can I fix it?

My Nokia Lumia 625 smartphone screen is frozen.

The phone is telling me to scan the SD card and fix errors which is not possible because when I Tap the screen nothing happens. I keep seeing the Nokia icon but I can't put in the code. Old messages are coming in at the top of the screen over and over. I have held the on button and the volume buttons but nothing happens. Help

Have you tried removing the SD Card (while your phone is turned off of course)? - some users have reported strange malfunction behavior that disappear when the SD Card is taken out. The explanation is not clear, but the relationship seems to be apparent.

If your screen is not responding at all (both with and without the SD Card), then you may want to consider taking your phone to a service center for possible repair or replacement of parts.
