ok what drove me crazy was my Surface was working beautifully prior to an update that was supposed to fix problems regarding wifi dropouts and batter life issues. Well, now I have both :(*

Besides this I am in love with this device... Ipad / Macbook Pro who?

You're not alone, I've had really bad battery drain and the Wi-Fi has dropped maybe twice. I'm thinking I may roll back the firmware (if it's possible, which it probably isn't). Before the update I was getting really awesome battery life, nearly 9 hours of heavy use that included solidworks. I still love the pro 3. But this update has kind of been a bummer.

No, you cannot roll back the firmware update but you can try rolling back the network adapter driver in device manager. You are also both not alone. Although I still have excellent battery life, after the update I now have precisely the WiFi problem I did not have previously. It took the flawless WiFi performance and left me with dropped connections, problems reconnecting after sleep, and roller coaster connection speeds. I would really like to thank Microsoft for evidently NOT testing their fix on machines that were functioning properly.

Fortunately I had a system restore point saved from a day before the last update. I did the restore and now my surface is back to its old self. If you have installed some desktop applications recently, you may have a recent restoration point.
