Is it just me, or do all of the native apps on WP suck? I am using the browser and Outlook for everything. VLC still sucks, Twitter sucks, BS Player does not exist, and so on and so forth.

I can't prove it, but I think Video is caching duplicate copies of my SD card videos to the phones memory. I can't see why it needs to be 1.18 GB. But Video is the only app that works consistently, and I can say the same for Music.

When I say native, I'm not referring to the Microsoft, Nokia, and MSN apps. I'm referring to official first party apps from developers, not HTML 5 workarounds.

It's you.
Email is great to me, VLC is not even finished, it says its a "beta" argh... This is why they shouldn't have made it public.

Sure, its not the best app situation, but don't issue a blanket statement since its kinda not-bright.

VLC sucks? Rofl I'm not being rude but in which other platform your have VLC? There are other players which you can try out use. I have been using twitter app and it's okay and one generation behind iOS/Android and Have you even tried 3rd party twitter apps? BS player?? Relay composing about one player instead try Moli player. What other apps are you referring to? You said music player is nice, I have been using WP for more than 2 yrs and I can say Xbox music is one of the worst apps by Microsoft. Honestly, if you don't wanna search and find good apps then please do that first then ask the community and we might be able to help you.

Granted VLC isn't good on Android either so I had that coming to me. I guess my frustration stems from the fact that when I do find a native app, I'm better off with a third party alternative. But I still think that, in a lot of situations, you might do just as well with the browser than you would with a third party app.

Music player is not that bad. At least it isn't 1 GB, like Video. But I'll take your suggestion and try Moli Player. I do notice that apps work differently from Android, which is actually a good thing, depending on who you ask.

Chris, I have been using WP for almost 3 yrs now and there is night and day difference between 2011 and now. For twitter try native app or MeTweets which I love also I'd you are looking for YouTube them you can try mytube/metrotube or tubecast. I love mytube's UI and imo it's better than the YouTube on iOS/android and use tubecast if you wanna cast videos from your phone to chromecast/Xbox/Apple TV.
Coming to Music app, it used to be much better and with WP 8.1 Microsoft separated it from the OS to update it frequently and broke it. They have been fixing it ever since and it still doesn't do something I expect it to and for a company like Microsoft it shouldn't be hard. On the other hand they might be concentrating on Windows mobile 10. So, wait and watch for January 21st event.

I actually prefer the UI of apps on WP over Android. Just feels modern, polished. I was never that impressed with Android, although some of the Google apps are decent.

Native YouTube for Android fell off many versions ago. I do not like the way that you have to use a registered account to watch videos now. That isn't the case on Gingerbread, ICS, Jellybean. I ran into a situation with ICS where, once I had upgraded to the latest YouTube and decided to go back and use the version that actually shipped with the phone that I couldn't use it because of my YouTube account. But I could log into the desktop site with my account, and I could log onto the latest YouTube with my account.
