New definition of flip phone?

Last night, my wife's 950 dropped out of her pocket while seated. No apparent damage, but today she noticed that many apps are rotated. You can see that they come up ok, then they probably think the phone is rotated and so they flip. Does this sound like something that can be repaired?

I searched the web and found someone suggesting what I already tried. Giving it another whack to see if the gyro would come "unstuck". But I found a video on YouTube and that guy whacked from the back. I had tried whacking it on the corners. Anyway, after a couple of jolts, it is working again. Thank goodness.
