Next major windows phone update and what you want in it.

I want to see:
-Other Storage control option
-More volume control options
-FM radio
-Fix the fracking screen brightness issue
-I would like to see Xbox Music to expand functionality.
-And while VLC is not out... I want to see more support for the video portion of Xbox music as well.

independent volume would be great. If im listening to my music player at a decent volume(not blasting), I don't like getting ringing ears after receiving a text lol. Be great to have individual volume settings for text, ringer, music etc.

I would like to see:
Xbox music sorted
A way to force check app updates.
More customise for the start screen.
Fic the other storage issues.

Mail
- Notifications for folders / improving folder system
I have several mail addresses included into my outlook account from various third party mail services. For example, I take care of the organization of the referees in my sport club. Therefore I included a mail like referees@my-sport-club.de with which I communicate as a referee. Poorly the main tile of my mail account does not show that there are new mails waiting in this folder.
Furthermore I got about 2-3 other account from my university and my employer.
I resolved this by pining those folders to my start screen. Now each tile of the folder shows me notifications of incoming mails. But this is not satisfying either.
All tiles looks the same and just differ from the little text in the left bottom corner. It would work out for me if you could change the tile icon, so I can see clearly which tile is associated with my university account and so on.

- This issue also leads me to my next problem. I would really like to see the new outlook icon as the tile icon of my mail account. But the standard Microsoft account only shows the old Hotmail icon. If I create a mail account for outlook the new icon is shown, but then I have two times the same mail, calendar and contacts showing in my applications.
I really hope this issue will be fixed. I am really pleased, you can create new folders from third party mail services and link them to your outlook. On outlook.com it works perfectly for me, but on my phone the experience is just not the same.

- Speaking of the outlook experience. I really do enjoy the related ability to send new mails from my linked third party mail addresses. For example sending a mail from my referee domain. This feature is also restricted to outlook.com only. I am unable to send such mails via my phone.
- Toast notifications are also a problem, because they do not exist for mails. I am sure this feature is already been developed, but I just want to name it to get everything together.
Of course toast notifications should also appear for each folder or rather be optional to turn toast on/off for each folder itself
- Lock screen notification are also missing for a folder
- Attachments are very limited on the phone

Calendar
- When opening an event, be able to click on the location to directly turn on navigation
- Weekly view
- Improving weekly, monthly view
- Improving the live tile experience
The tile only shows one event. I would recommend a flip cycle which show contains the next 4-5 upcoming events. So or so, there can be stored more information is the tile, especially in the biggest size.
- In my calendar there are several days, where I have up to 4 all day events. My phone just says there are ?XY all day appointments? and I am unable to tab on this text to see which appointments I got.
- Monthly view looks very unwindowsphonish to me. The grid layout could be more like the new outlook calendar design.
Over all I would consider the calendar app as very basic.

Phone App
- Swipe to see all missed calls
- Swipe again to see all calls made from you

Clock App

- Stop watch & count down should be added to Windows Phone

I'd like to see:

Open API interface for 3rd party apps like dialer, calendar, keyboards like swype!!! and so on... And yes almost every other thing what has been mentioned in here 😊

Better Podcasting and music control (i.e. like Zune HD + Zune app on the desktop) I would like to have items marked as podcasts in the mp3 tags, copy them onto the phone and have the podcast application to recognize them as podcasts, not music.

Notifications would be nice.
better bluetooth control.

My list has what others have said.
-Update to xbox music so that it puts album songs together instead of separate
-Volume buttons to change the ringer from silent, vibrate, and ring
-Reminder option for notifications such as a txt message or missed calls, beep or vibrate every 2, 5, or 10 minutes until i check the phone

-(virtually) Unlimited colour choices for themes. It really annoys me that I don't have a nice blue colour for my tiles.
-Potentially more background colours...
-When phone turned horizontal on the home screen, the tiles flip to horizontal too. (The first step, I think, in to unifying W8 and WP8 completely)
-Bing apps ported from windows 8. Especially News.
-Search all of phone using the Bing search button.
-Improved voice control/assistant
-Some sort of notification hub
-Pull down from the top of the app to close it, similar to W8
-Screen orientation lock

It seems as if Windows blue will be called Windows 8.1. So I'm expecting to the blue update to phone to be known as Windows Phone 8.1.

Didn't understand why 1080P was not an option when WP8 was introduced. Is microsoft always going to play catch up or roll the dice and introduce a high end phone that will compete with the top of the line Android or iphone (specs wise). It might not be a big deal to a lot of people but it plays a huge big in the eyes of the gadget reporters who will fuel a lot of speculations which either lead to success or failure

1. Color customization for tiles
2. More swiping (N9) style features (bberry has copied lot of these)
3. Landscape mode
4. Differentiating incoming /missed / outgoing call icons with colored ones
5. 1080p resolution or even higher to get ahead of the game
6. Just keep improving the OS and introduce new features that the competition does not have

be great if we had a color wheel instead of just the presets.

  1. Allow WiFi connection before setup. It is useful for people having a 200M data plan.
  2. Toggle and Notification center. One place to toggle wifi, cellular data, Bluetooth, NFC, airplane mode --- the place that can be easily accessed.
  3. Live tiles use the full width of the screen. The screen looks smaller than it is actually is.
  4. Fixed live tiles on the bottom or at the top. tiles such as contacts, IE, phone ,, etc,

Some way to better manage open apps running in background. I hate the current method. How about a quick check box selections of apps you want to close in some notification section or drop down?

improve notification, increased music volume in earphone!
And a bit of a random 1 but why is there such a big gap under the clock before the first tile starts? Make the most of the big screen

I think it's to leave room for a toast notification without covering the top portion of tiles on your start screen that you always come back to when pressing the start button.

And it seems that there is no attachments in calendar - 2 bad 4 me

the notification center thing is frustrating because there are those that get it and those that don't. Yes, maybe some people are used to android but I'm not. I love live tiles. But some toasts disappear before you can read them and may have come from an unpinned app (maybe you didn't know it gave toasts. Maybe it's an infrequently used app you don't need pinned. Maybe you forgot to pin it). Some toasts aren't associated with a number on a tile or an indicator that they were there (i.e. Battery sense can toast when battery is low or battery drain detected... Its just a real time message that is only true when it's sent. Skype continually sends toasts when you have even just one unread message, reminding you that something needs your attention, and the tile only reflects one message because that's all there is even if it toasted you 6 times. Words By Post toasts when you have a new message but the tile reflects turn notifications only. Same with Words with Friends.)

We cant cover every scenario. Sometimes tile notifications don't include certain toasts by design. Sometimes it's not feasible to update the tile everytime. Some apps have bugs or were coded poorly. Some devs don't follow design standards. Some apps don't get pinned for various reasons. Still, even if Microsoft auto-pinned every installed app (which kinda defeats the purpose), the same problem would exist with all the other reasons mentioned. I don't care if I have a notification center that tells me I have email when I can clearly see that on my tile. I do care if, while I'm busy and phone is on vibrate, I felt 6 vibrations yet can only find 2. What if all I want to do is find the app sending toasts and uninstall it? I don't even know what app it is if I can't get to the phone in time.

If Microsoft wants to make this toast notification center or whatever a tile with a number for every toast that comes through, or a tile with an icon on it indicating one or more previous toasts, or a tile without any numbers... I would be happy. They could even throw in an indicator for if the toast came from an unpinned app with the option to pin it. And anyone who thinks it is silly and fails to see why some people could really use it are free to leave it unpinned.

Well, MSFT says they're working on it, so we will see what they bring to the table. And I'm sure that unless it is that much better version of the pull down bar we've seen on iOS/Android, people will complain.

I would like:

1. A setting that you can have your phone quiet for certain times. So when I go to bed, it has a "Quiet" time from 11:30pm to 6:30am. I can set the times.
2. Bring back Zune music, or at least integrate Xbox music and Zune music so I and manage all my music in one place. Support Zune Digital Right.
3. Ability to make my SD cards work on my Lumia 820.
4. Increased voice commands like - Schedule and appointment, Set the alarm, etc

In reality, the Music is my biggest issue. I have a ton of money and time making Zune work for me and my family. Now it is a disaster with Windows phone 8. I wish I would have just spent my time and effort on iTunes. I don't trust Microsoft to keep the same DRM formats or even stick with Xbox music for more than 3 years.
